The analysis shows that pupils scholarised between 1920 and 2000 could have gained good knowledge of the past and culture of the regions of ex-Yugoslavia. Therefore we can argue that the ambiguities and the stereotypes concerning ex-Yugoslavia and the Balkans, are not the consequence of deficient information comprised in the textbooks. On the other hand is the knowledge provided by the textbooks written thereafter scarce, fragmentised and mostly reduced to the political vicissitudes of the 20th century. So, it can not contribute to removal of the existing stereotypes. In addition the paper identifies major ideologies and suppositions that underlay the presentation and choice of historical facts presented</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Razprava analizira in primerja vsebine o prostoru bivše Jugoslavije in Balkana, ki so jih ponujali slovenski gimnazijski učbeniki zgodovine, napisani med 1911 in 2011. Analiza je pokazala, da so gimnazijci, ki so se šolali med letoma 1920 in 2000, mogli iz učbenikov dobiti obsežne informacije o preteklosti prostora bivše Jugoslavije in Balkana. Zato dvoumnega diskurza o tem prostoru, ki je navzoč v slovenskem prostoru ne moremo povezati s slabo informativnostjo teh učbenikov. Vednost, ki jo dijakom posredujejo učbeniki, nastali po letu 2000, pa posredujejo zelo reducirano in fragmentarno podobo preteklosti obravnavanega prostora, osredotočeno predvsem na politično zgodovino 20. stoletja, in ne prispeva k odpravljanju stereotipov.
