Izdajata jo Inštitut za slovensko narodopisje Znanstvenoraziskovalnega centra Slovenske akademije znanosti in umetnosti in Oddelek za tuje jezike in literaturo Univerze v Vidmu. Revija je namenjena interdisciplinarnim raziskavam in eden glavnih ciljev revije je predstaviti primerjalne raziskave, ki definirajo in opredeljujejo slovansko kulturo v odnosu do širšega evropskega in neevropskega sveta. Revija je prvič izšla leta 1998 in od takrat izhaja en zvezek letno v večjezični podobi.
