Razvit je bil kot orodje za preučevanje vpliva procesnih parametrov na lito mikro in makrostrukturo. Za strjevanje konstrukcijskega jekla S 355 J2 so bile uporabljene različne ohlajevalne hitrosti. Opažen je bil močan vpliv ohlajevalne hitrosti tako na končno velikost zrn, kot tudi na mejno plast med stebričastimi in ekviaksialnimi zrni.
