It examines the factors which influence red heart. These are: the diameter, height and age of the tree, its branchiness, the ratio crown length to tree height and the mean annual increment. These factors influence the occurrence and share of red heart in a beech tree. The dependence, intensity and functioning of the mentioned factors is described. The dimensions of a tree and its age have the largest influence on red heart. The influence of other characteristics of the tree are less important. All these characteristics worktogether and should be treated as such. The study of individual characteristics of the tree or its dimensions can bring us to the wrong conclusions. The differences demonstrated between various sites are an indication of the status of trees and stands, especially their age, diameter and heightŠtudija je prispevek k poznavanju tematike rdečega srca pri bukvi. V njej so obravnavani dejavniki, ki vplivajo na rdeče srce. Prikazana je odvisnost, moč in način delovanja mer, velikosti in starosti drevesa, njegove vejnatosti, deleža krošnje in povprečnega prirastka na velikost in delež rdečega srca v drevesu. Posebna pozornost je posvečena vplivu kakovosti rastišča na rdeče srce. Na rdeče srce najbolj vplivajo mere drevesa in njegova starost. Vpliv drugih značilnosti drevesa je manj pomemben. Vse te značilnosti delujejo skupno in jih je treba tako tudi obravnavati. Ločena obravnava posamezne značilnosti ali mere drevesa lahko privede do napačnih zaključkov.
