The most frequent form of inflammatory bowel disease is ulcerative colitis. Its incidence is higher in the developed world and is still growing. Ulcerative colitis is a gastrointestinal disease of unknown etiology, usually lasting a lifetime. It is characterized by a chronic course with frequent flares and intermediate periods of variable length of remission. Symptoms of ulcerative colitis are diverse. The most common are abdominal pain and blood in the stool. Some patients may experience extra-intestinal manifestations of the disease. Diagnosis of ulcerative colitis begins with an analysis of the patient's history and a clinical examination and is confirmed via the laboratory, radiological, endoscopic, and histological examinations. The purpose of treatment is to achieve remission and prevent disease onset. Healing is only possible with a complete colectomy</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Kronične vnetne črevesne bolezni so skupina dolgotrajnih (kroničnih) vnetnih obolenj črevesa. Mednje spadajo Crohnova bolezen, ulcerozni kolitis in intermediarni kolitis. Z zdravljenjem želimo doseči remisijo in preprečiti zagone bolezni. Ozdravitev je možna le s popolno kolektomijo</dc:description><edm:type>TEXT</edm:type><dc:type xml:lang="sl">znanstveno časopisje</dc:type><dc:type xml:lang="en">journals</dc:type><dc:type rdf:resource="http://www.wikidata.org/entity/Q361785" /></edm:ProvidedCHO><ore:Aggregation rdf:about="http://www.dlib.si/?URN=URN:NBN:SI:DOC-QY1I5UU0"><edm:aggregatedCHO rdf:resource="URN:NBN:SI:DOC-QY1I5UU0" /><edm:isShownBy rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/stream/URN:NBN:SI:DOC-QY1I5UU0/c5ddb79-0dda-e2d8-2b4-d2970fa786f920/PDF" /><edm:rights rdf:resource="http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/" /><edm:provider>Slovenian National E-content Aggregator</edm:provider><edm:dataProvider xml:lang="en">National and University Library of Slovenia</edm:dataProvider><edm:object rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/streamdb/URN:NBN:SI:DOC-QY1I5UU0/maxi/edm" /><edm:isShownAt rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/details/URN:NBN:SI:DOC-QY1I5UU0" /></ore:Aggregation></rdf:RDF>
