A typology of critical media and communication studies is constructed. Example approaches that are based on the commodity hypothesis, the ideology hypothesis, the alternative media hypothesis, and the alternative reception hypothesis are discussed. It is argued that integrative bridging approaches can be found and that a disciplinary matrix can enhance the dialogue about commonalities and differences within critical communication studies"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Splošni cilj dela je prispevati k razpravi o teoretičnih vidikih kritične medijske in komunikološke teorije. Kritične medijske in komunikološke vede so opredeljene kot tiste, ki se ontološko osredotočajo na analizo medijev, komuniciranja in kulture v okvirih dominacije, asimetričnih odnosov moči, izkoriščanja, zatiranja in nadzora ter na epistemološki ravni uporabljajo vsa potrebna teoretična in/ali empirična sredstva, da bi prispevale k vzpostavitvi participativne, kooperativne družbe v praksi. Ta opredelitev pomeni, da so kritične komunikološke in medijske vede po naravi stvari politične in normativne. V članku je predstavljena tipologija področij in pristopov. Obravnavani so primeri različnih pristopov, ki temeljijo na hipotezah poblagovljenja, ideologije, alternativnih medijev in alternativnega sprejemanja.
