At the Inexa Steelwork Štore we examined the influence of electromagnetic stirring on the solidification structure of cast steel billets with a size of 180 x 180 mm. EMS was applied to improve the surface and subsurface quality as well as the internal quality of continuously cast steel by enlarging the equiaxed zone of the cast billets or blooms.
