The author highlights a conceptual and ideological distinction between sustainable consumption and consumerism. Employing a bibliographic analysis, the author further highlights the popularity of research in sustainable consumption, its interdisciplinary dimension, as well as the key research issues related to the concept of the sustainable consumer within marketing academic journals. Based on this, the author explores why marketing needs sustainability and why sustainability needs marketing</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">V tem konceptualnem prispevku avtor in gostujoči urednik tematske številke Akademije MM, namenjene trajnostnemu porabniku, izpostavlja izbrane vidike trajnostnega marketinga. V prvem delu, v kontekstu trajnosti, ponudi pojmovno razlikovanje med potrošnikom in porabnikom ter njuno ideološko dimenzijo. V drugem delu prispevka avtor s pomočjo bibliografske analize izpostavi popularnost raziskovanja trajnostnega porabnika, interdisciplinarno razsežnost zanimanja zanj pa tudi ključne raziskovalne poudarke trajnostnega porabnika znotraj znanstvenih marketinških revij.
