He was educated and trained in schools of Ljubljana and ofZagreb. Most of his professional life in his capacity as the head forester for the lands of Tyrol and Vorarlberg based in Innsbruck was devoted to recovering of devastated and denudated forests on southern slopes of Alps at the north of the Italian peninsula. Several of his books published in order toimprove forestry practices by incorporating the ideas of landscape protection were prized by Academies in Firenze (1833) and Milano (1846). F. Megušer passed away at the age of 87 and was buried in Wilten near Innsbruck, Austria"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Franc Megušer se je rodil 12. 12. 1792 v Železnikih. Šolal se je v Ljubljani in Zagrebu. Od svojega 29. leta pa vse do svojih poznih let je služboval v Innsbrucku v vlogah komornega tajnika, vrhovnega gozdarskega inšpektorja ter gozdarskega in finančnega svetnika za Tirolsko in Predarlsko. Napisal je več strokovnih gozdarskih in naravovarstveno usmerjenih knjig in člankov. Oblikoval je novo strokovno doktrino, za kar je od Georkike iz Firenc in od Lombardske akademije znanosti, književnosti in umetnosti S.M.I.R.A. iz Milanaprejel prestižne nagrade. Njegovo glavne zamisli so ohranjene v knjigiiz leta 1859.
