They were divided into matched pairs based on their swimming knowledge and skills shown at initial testing. Subsequently, they were assigned randomly to an experimental or a control group. Water adaptation test and tests of swimming knowledge and skills were done before and after the programme. Both groups showed an improvement in swimming knowledge due to the learn-to-swim programme. However, there was only one significant difference in the skills tested between the experimental and the control group after the programme. There were more participants in the control group who were able to perform relaxed exhalation in water than in the experimental group. Considering the results, it could be concluded that the swim teacher should focus on teaching the nonswimmers to open their eyes under the water and teach them exhalation in the water after the use of mask and snorkel"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Z raziskavo smo želeli ugotoviti, kakšen učinek ima uporaba maske in dihalke pri prilagajanju na vodo ter začetnem učenju prsnega plavanja. Program običajnega prilagajanja na vodo in začetnega učenja prsnega plavanja smo primerjali s programom, pri katerem smo uporabili masko ter dihalko. Raziskavo smo opravili na vzorcu 39 predšolskih otrok iz vrtca Pedenjped iz Zaloga. Merjence smo najprej razdelili glede na znanje v enakovredne pare. Nato enega iz para uvrstili v eksperimentalno, drugega pa v kontrolno skupino. Pred tečajem in po njem smo otroke testirali s testi prilagojenosti na vodo ter testi znanja plavanja. Vadeči obeh skupin so na plavalnem tečaju napredovali v znanju plavanja. Statistično značilna razlika med obema skupinama se je pokazala le pri testu izdihovanja v vodo. Vzrok za to vidimo v razlikah v metodičnem postopku med obema programoma.
