Perception of colours andmotion is explained in the light of the new findings of parallel parvocellular (P) and magnocellular (M) pathways. Discrimination of colours isrendered possible by the following important structures of the P pathway: P ganglion cells in the retina - parvocellular layers in the thalamic lateral geniculate nucleus (LGN) - "blob" regions in the primary visual cortex V1 - V4visual area. Important structures of the M pathway providing for the discrimination of motion include: M ganglion cells in the retina-magnocelllular layers in the LGN-primary visual cortex V1 - V5 visual area. Location of other cortical areas involved in vision is presented; the visual pathway responsible for what is seen ends in the temporal cortex, and the pathway concerned with motion (where the objects are) ends in the parietalcortex. Clinical data for cerebral achromatopsia (complete colour blindness), akinetopsia (inability to discern movement of objects), prosopagnosia (inability to recognise familiar faces), also speak for the existence of several functionally specialised visual cortical areas. For the conscious perception of light and movement simultaneous activity of several visual areas seems to be necessary</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Članek opisuje osnovna in nova spoznanja o vidni poti pri človeku, ki so jih omogočile tehnike slikanja možganov, neinvazivne elektrofiziološke in druge metode. Prikazana je novejša razlaga zaznavanja barv in gibanja, ki temelji naodkritju dveh vzporednih poti obdelave optičnega dražljaja, drobno- (P) in velikocelične (M) poti. Pomembne strukture poti F ki omogoča analizo barv, so:ganglijske celice P v mrežnici - drobnocelične plasti v talamičnem lateralnem genikulatnem jedru - kapljičaste strukture (blob) v primarni vidni skorji V1-vidno področje V4. Pomembne strukture poti M, ki omogoča analizo gibanja, so ganglijske celice M v mrežnici - velikocelične plasti v lateralnemgenikulatnem jedru - primarna vidna skorja V1-vidno področje V5. Za zavestnozaznavo zunanjega sveta se zdi, da je potrebna sočasna aktivnost številnih vidnih področij</dc:description><edm:type>TEXT</edm:type><dc:type xml:lang="sl">znanstveno časopisje</dc:type><dc:type xml:lang="en">journals</dc:type><dc:type rdf:resource="http://www.wikidata.org/entity/Q361785" /></edm:ProvidedCHO><ore:Aggregation rdf:about="http://www.dlib.si/?URN=URN:NBN:SI:DOC-MWKT8DNY"><edm:aggregatedCHO rdf:resource="URN:NBN:SI:DOC-MWKT8DNY" /><edm:isShownBy rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/stream/URN:NBN:SI:DOC-MWKT8DNY/cc287d7d-9e23-4c75-8d61-d4f44a6302b7/PDF" /><edm:rights rdf:resource="http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/" /><edm:provider>Slovenian National E-content Aggregator</edm:provider><edm:intermediateProvider xml:lang="en">National and University Library of Slovenia</edm:intermediateProvider><edm:dataProvider xml:lang="sl">Društvo Medicinski razgledi</edm:dataProvider><edm:object rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/streamdb/URN:NBN:SI:DOC-MWKT8DNY/maxi/edm" /><edm:isShownAt rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/details/URN:NBN:SI:DOC-MWKT8DNY" /></ore:Aggregation></rdf:RDF>
