In this research special attention has been paid to cold cracks appearing in the multi pass weld metal. Cold cracking is prevented by the preheating of steel prior to welding in order to achieve a beneficial microstructure, and by the drying of the welding flux and the post heating of a welded joint for the expulsion of dissolved hydrogen. An accurate determination of the preheating temperature is necessary because of the high cost of the preheating during the build up of a welded structure. This paper deals with the experimental determintion of the preheating temperature for multi-pass weld metal with a thickness of 50 mm at which cold crcking in the welded joint could be eliminated</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Problematika varivosti malolegiranih konstrukcijskih jekel se kaže tudi v fenomenu razpokljivosti v hladnem. V raziskavi je namenjena posebna pozornost nastajanju razpok v hladnem v večvarkovnem strjenem varu. Razpokljivost v hladnem v strjenem varu preprečujemo s predgrevanjem, za zagotovitev ustrezne mikrostrukture, s sušenjem oplaščenih elektrod ali praškov in s pogrevanjem zvrnega spoja za izhajanje raztopljenega vodika. Ker predgrevanje pomeni visok strošek pri gradnji zvarjene konstrukcije, je potrebna natančna določitev ustrezne temperature predgrevanja. V raziskavi je predstavljena eksperimentalna določitev temperature predgrevanja večvarkovnega strjenega vara debeline 50 mm, pri kateri ne bo prišlo do pojava razpok v hladnem.
