Because of the nedd to raise the yield point, this steel is frequently used not only in the quenched condition but also after additional cold strengthening. It is known that in some other austenitic steels (such as AISI 304, 316 and similar)this operation produces some transformation of gamma-phase into alpha-phase and the consequence is that the steel becomes partially feromagnetic - the permeability is significantly increased. We have proved the behavior of 19MnCr18 steel in this respect. We have measured how the degree of cold plastic deformation changes: mechanical properties as determined by tension test, impact toughness, phase composition, permeability, distortion of the crystal lattice. As starting point, the hot-rolled profile dia. 26 mm in the quenched condition was used, and the properties were determined. Big tensile-test pieces were machined and loaded up to different forces and the plastic strain was measured. From deformed parts of the test pieces smaller tensile test pieces, impact test pieces and test pieces for the measurement of permeability were machined. For X-ray diffraction analysis, halves of the broken impact test pieces were used"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Jeklo 19MnCr18 ima pri sobni temperaturi stabilno avstenitno strukturo. Pogosto se zaradi povišanja meje plastičnosti ne uporablja samo v gašenem stanju, ampak v dodatno hladno utrjenem stanju. Znano je, da se pri nekaterih drugih avstenitnih jeklih (PK11, PK12 in podobna) pri tem del faze gama pretvori v fazo alfa, kar ima za posledico, da postane jeklo delno feromagnetno - permeabilnost se zelo poveča. Preverili smo, kako se glede tega vede jeklo 19MnCr18. Merili smo, kako se s stopnjo hladne deformacije spreminjajo: mehanske lastnosti, ki jih določimo z nateznim preizkusom; žilavost; fazna sestava; permeabilnost; popačenje kristalne mreže. Za izhodišče smo vzeli vroče valjani profil fi 26 mm v gašenem stanju in ugotovili njegove lastnosti. Izdelali smo velike natezne preizkušance in jih natezno obremenjevali z različnimi silami in izmerili plastično deformacijo. Iz oslabljenih delov teh preizkušancev smo izdelali manjše natezne preizkušance, žilavostne preizkušance in preizkušance za merjenje permeabilnosti.
