Itćs resistant to symptomatic treatment so it is important to investigate for its causes to treat it successfully. Tumor hypoglycemia can be caused by insulinoma, by tumor secretion of insulin-like substances (Insuline-like growth factor 2, IGF-2), liver metastases, cachexia or paraneoplastic endocrine abnormalities. Conclusions We are presenting a review of current literature on tumor hypoglycemia that highlights the importance of investigating causative mechanisms in order to control it"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Izhodišča Tumorska hipoglikemija je redka in zato pogosto spregledana oblika hipoglikemije, ki se na novo pojavi pri bolnikih z rakom. Se ponavlja in je odporna na simptomatsko zdravljenje. Povzročajo jo nevroendokrini tumorji, kotje inzulinom, tumorsko izločanje inzulinu podobne beljakovine (Insuline-like growth factor 2, IGF-2), jetrne metastaze, kaheksija ali pridružene endokrine motnje. Zaključki Za uspešno usmerjeno zdravljenje je ključno prepoznavanje vzroka tumorske hipoglikemije, sicer se hipoglikemične epizode ponavljajo in resno ogrožajo bolnikovo življenje.
