The MFFE system takes place on two levels: the data from the first level present the status, spatial information and trends regarding the forest condition; the data from the second level present information on processes taking place in individual stands. The MFFE results can represent the basis for changing ecological influences on forest, monitoring the trends, foliage drop and tree damage, monitoring the input of pollutants in the forest both with the bioindication method with epiphytic lichens and directly with measuring stand precipitations, monitoring the consequences of forest management, forest vegetation condition related to diverse ecological factors, monitoring supplying the trees with mineral nutrients, forest soil condition, biodiversity of forest ecosystems and forestfunctions. The analysis of the present MFFE system with regard to the goal indicators of the Resolution on the national forest program has also beenmadeV prispevku je predstavljen monitoring gozdov in gozdnih ekosistemov (MGGE), ki pokriva vse slovenske gozdove in je usklajen z mednarodnimi metodologijami in priporočili. Sistem MGGE poteka na dveh ravneh: podatki s prve ravni podajajo stanje, prostorsko informacijo ter trende glede stanja gozdov, podatki z druge ravni pa podajajo informacije o procesih, ki potekajo v posameznih sestojih. Rezultati MGGE so lahko podlaga spremljanja okoljskih vplivov na gozd, spremljanje trendov osutosti in poškodovanosti drevja, spremljanje vnosa onesnažil v gozd, tako z bioindikacijsko metodo z epifitskimi lišaji kot neposredno z meritvami sestojnih padavin, spremljanje posledic gospodarjenja z gozdovi, stanja gozdne vegetacije v povezavi z različnimi okoljskimi dejavniki, spremljanje preskrbe drevja z mineralnimi hranili, stanja gozdnih tal, biotske raznovrstnosti gozdnih ekosistemov in funkcij gozdov.
