Its aim is not only to give a general overview of the outcomes of the comparison of the theatre systems of seven smaller cities, the supply of theatre and the use that it is made of it and the types of experiences theatre generates, but also to draw some general conclusions regarding the impact of the different theatre systems in these seven countries. Logically, in comparative research one focuses on the different outcomes of different systems and explanations behind them, though they cannot be but tentative, given the current state of the research. We discuss two distinctions specifically: between Eastern and Western European cities and between touring and residential theatre systems. However, the similarities between the outcomes of the theatre systems of these seven cities are also striking and should be acknowledged"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Ko razmišljamo, kako gledališče deluje v družbenem okviru, sta najočitnejši vprašanji, koliko ljudi se poslužuje gledališke ponudbe in, posledično, kateri deli prebivalstva si ogledajo določene tipe gledaliških dogodkov. V članku na obe vprašanji odgovorimo ob primerih madžarskega mesta Debrecen, nizozemskega mesta Groningen, britanskega mesta Tyneside in estonskega mesta Tartu. Ko pojasnimo, kako je bila zasnovana raziskava v okviru Študije mest, in razrešimo nekatere metodološke težave, poskušamo predstaviti natančno sliko več različnih vrst obči Članek razpravlja o metodologiji in rezultatih Študije mest v okviru projekta STEP o gledališču v evropskih mestih. Cilj ni zgolj ponuditi splošnega pregleda rezultatov primerjave gledaliških sistemov sedmih manjših mest, gledališke ponudbe, uporabe, ki iz nje izhaja, ter vrst izkušenj, ki jih vzbuja gledališče, temveč obenem izvleči nekaj splošnih sklepov v zvezi z učinkom različnih gledaliških sistemov v teh sedmih državah. Logično je, da se pri primerjalnem raziskovanju osredotočamo na različne izide različnih sistemov in pojasnila v ozadju, četudi glede na trenutno stanje raziskave ne morejo biti več kot okvirni Posebej razpravljamo o dveh razlikovanjih: med vzhodnimi in zahodnimi evropskimi mesti ter med gostovalnim in hišnim gledališkim sistemom.
