Because of its excellent mechanical and thermal properties in composition with grey cast iron, Al-SiC MMCs became more interesting as brake rotors material. In this paper the development results of brake pad material for Al-SiC MMCs is presented. Completely new development approach was required, because friction materials for grey cast iron rotors are unsuitable for Al-SiC MMCs rotors. Friction and mechanical properties in connection with some particular additives of pad's lining material will be discussed. Tests were done on go-kart brake pads and rotors. Testing of brake performance was carried out in laboratory, as well as in practice on real go-karts"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"V zadnjem času so postali aluminijevi kompozitni materiali (Al-MMCs) cenejši in tako tudi dosegljivejši za uporabo v avtomobilski industriji. Zaradi vrste odličnih lastnosti: mehanska trdnost, trdota in odpornost proti obrabi, visoka toplotna prevodnost in toplotna kapaciteta so v primerjavi s sivo litino postali zanimivi tudi za izdelavo zavornih diskov. V prispevku navajamo rezultate razvoja tornih materialov za zaorne obloge, ki imajo primerne torne in mehanske lastnosti v povezavi z materialom Al-MMCs. Dosedanje izkušnje in znanje s področja tornih materialov za klasične zavorne diske namreč ne pomenijko dosti. Potrebna je bila popolnoma nova zasnova sestave tornega kompozita. Raziskali smo vpliv nekaterih dodatkov na torne in obrabne lasstnosti zavornih oblog v kombinaciji z Al-MMCs zavornimi diski. Meritve smo izvedli na go-kartnih zavornih ploščicah in diskih.
