Variability differs in both time and brightness from one source to another, however variable sources or transients can be divided into two groups: variable stars and high-energy objects. Sky survey telescopes, which cover the same part of the sky in short time intervals, made the detection of transients an interesting topic in astrophysics. In this article different types of transients are presented, followed by a description of a few notable sky survey telescopes"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Izvorom na nebu se lahko zaradi različnih fizikalnih procesov spreminja svetlost in jih posledično opazimo kot spremenljiv ali nov vir svetlobe na nebu. Spremenljivost je tako v času kot v svetlosti odvisna od tipa izvora, ki ga opazujemo, v glavnem pa jih ločimo na spremenljive zvezde in visokoenergijske izvore. S širokokotnimi pregledi neba, ki v krajših časovnih razmakih večkrat poslikajo isti del neba, je odkrivanje spremenljivih izvorov postalo vse bolj pogosta in zanimiva tema astrofizike.
