The documentation on forests and management being preserved in abundance, the former Snežnik large estate forests have represented one of the important bases for the concept of the forestry development in Slovenia after World War II. The article shows the development in the 150-year history of the planned management with these forests. Particularly the basic elements of the Schollmayer control method, its further development and application of its findings in directioning management of these forests after the World War II are presented. At the end, the perspective of the control method in mastering the complexity of ofrest ecosystems and their management are presentedČlanek je posvečen stoletnici Schollmayerjeve kontrolne metode pri gospodarjenju v snežniških gozdovih. Zaradi bogato ohranjene dokumentacije o gozdovih in gospodarjenju so bili nekdanji snežniški veleposestniški gozdovi ena pomembnih opornih točk, na kateri je slonel koncept razvoja gozdarstva v Sloveniji po drugi svetovni vojni. V članku je prikazana razvojna pot v 150-letni zgodovini načrtnega gospodarjenja s temi gozdovi. Posebej so predstavljeni temeljni elementi Schollmayerjeve kontrolne metode, njeno nadaljnje razvijanje ter uporaba njenih izsledkov pri usmerjanju gospodarjenja s temi gozdovi po drugi sv. vojni.
