The process is performed by plunging a rotating pin that creates a connection between sheets in an overlap configuration by means of frictional heat and mechanical work. In this study the tensile-shear-strength and hardness variations in the weld regions are discussed. The results obtained are compared with those derived from the application of traditional resistance spot welding (RSW).
