Mergers and takeovers result in large publishing groups and media enterprises, where publishing is only one of their activities. At the same time, big selling chains and megastores are emerging. Selling books over the internet is a new advanced concept. Small publishers' reaction to these tense conditions is by specialising. The results of a study among Slovenian publishers show the situation and difficulties of middle-size and small publishers and contribute to better understanding of publishing in Slovenia. Copyright protection is a key mechanism for safeguarding creations, creativity, as well as making sure that authors are compensated for their work. Protection of rights in digital media is a new challenge, with the DOI system (Digital Object Identifier), as one of possible options, taking the lead. Wide usage of computers and internet is changing the work of editors and provide for fast communication with authors. Text editing is done on computers, data are transferred directly onto a printing plate or a printing machine. A good example of how to make the most of existing technological solutions is print on demand. Yet despite the development of E-publishing, the book is not endangered, as a dviding line is becoming apparent between texts suitable for electronic publishing and those that will continue to be printed on the paper</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Razvoj založništva močno zaznamujeta koncentracija kapitala ter hitra širitev sodobnih tehnologij. Z združevanjem in prevzemi nastajajo velike založniške skupine in medijski konglomerati, ki se ukvarjajo z založništvom kot eno svojih dejavnosti. Vzporedno nastajajo velike prodajne verige in megaknjigarne. Širitev uporabe računalnikov in internet spreminjata uredniško delov v založbi in omogočata hitro komunikacijo. Stavljenje in prelom sta računalniška, podatki se prenašajo z računalnika na tiskarsko ploščo ali direktno na tiskarski stroj. Posrečen spoj tehnoloških rešitev je tisk na zahtevo. Razvija se elektronsko založništvo, vendar knjiga ni ogrožena - kaže pa se ločnica med besedili, ki jih je primerno izdajati v elektronski obliki, in tistimi, ki jih bomo tudi v prihodnje tiskali na papir</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">magistrsko delo</dc:description><edm:type>TEXT</edm:type><dc:type xml:lang="sl">visokošolska dela</dc:type><dc:type xml:lang="en">theses and dissertations</dc:type><dc:type rdf:resource="http://www.wikidata.org/entity/Q1266946" /></edm:ProvidedCHO><ore:Aggregation rdf:about="http://www.dlib.si/?URN=URN:NBN:SI:DOC-G9ARWADN"><edm:aggregatedCHO rdf:resource="URN:NBN:SI:DOC-G9ARWADN" /><edm:isShownBy rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/stream/URN:NBN:SI:DOC-G9ARWADN/e4b06b47-8200-45ac-9ce6-062e58b47d9f/PDF" /><edm:rights rdf:resource="http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/" /><edm:provider>Slovenian National E-content Aggregator</edm:provider><edm:intermediateProvider xml:lang="en">National and University Library of Slovenia</edm:intermediateProvider><edm:dataProvider xml:lang="sl">Univerza v Ljubljani, Filozofska fakulteta</edm:dataProvider><edm:object rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/streamdb/URN:NBN:SI:DOC-G9ARWADN/maxi/edm" /><edm:isShownAt rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/details/URN:NBN:SI:DOC-G9ARWADN" /></ore:Aggregation></rdf:RDF>
