Granules made from finely ground glass together with foaming agents have been formed. The temperature interval of foaming has been determined by means of a hot stage microscope by which the foaming process can be easily observed. The subsequently dried granules have been fired at different temperatures for different periods of time and the properties of so-obtained granules such as density, type of porosity (open, closed), and water absorption have been determined. From the results we can conclude that the granules could be used as an aggregate for the production of light-weight bricks or blocks. Further investigations need to be performed regarding the properties of such light-weight bricks or blocks with emphasis on their mechanical properties and durability</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">V prispevku je podana možnost uporabe odpadnega stekla za proizvodnjo lahkega agregata. Iz drobno pomletega stekla z dodatkom penilca smo oblikovali granule. Temperaturni interval penjenja smo določili z visokotemperaturnim mikroskopom, s katerim smo lahko spremljali proces penjenja. V tako določenem temperaturnem obdobju smo nato posušene granule žgali pri različnih temperaturah in časih. Pri žganih granulah smo določili gostoto, vrsto poroznosti (odprta, zaprta) in vpijanje vode.
