This procedure employs synthetic images with imposed planar sinusoidal displacement fields of various spatial frequencies to quantify both the displacement measurement precision and the spatial resolution of DIC algorithms. The displacement precision and spatial resolution are re-defined in terms of two measures of discrepancy that have not been used before but are considered to give a better comparative assessment than was previously possible. The results are presented in graphical form to finally produce an evaluation of the relative performance of the different DIC approaches. These show that the Kriging DIC approach is robust to the measurement noise and has superior performance to the classical subset-based DIC in terms of both displacement measurement precision and spatial resolution. Furthermore, it is found that the best results are obtained when the discrepancy is measured in the normal direction, as opposed to the Y-direction for the quantification DIC performance</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Korelacija digitalnih posnetkov (DIC) je danes verjetno najbolj priljubljena metoda za merjenje odmikov in deformacij na področju eksperimentalne mehanike. Algoritme DIC lahko razvrstimo v dve glavni kategoriji: na lokalne algoritme DIC, ki bazirajo na podmnožicah, in globalne algoritme DIC, ki delajo s polnim poljem. Vrednotenje učinkovitosti različnih algoritmov DIC z ozirom na natančnost meritev in prostorsko ločljivost po standardnem postopku je pomembno za praktično uporabo. Idealni algoritem DIC bi v istem trenutku dosegal tako odlično natančnost kakor tudi odlično prostorsko ločljivost, toda v praksi so vedno potrebni določeni kompromisi. Natančnost meritev je mogoče kvantificirati z vrednotenjem standardnega odklona merilnega šuma. Za preučevanje prostorskih fluktuacij polja odmikov je običajno treba določiti prostorsko ločljivost, kar pa je zelo težavna naloga, če k njej pristopamo eksperimentalno. V izogib tem omejitvam so bili uporabljeni sintetični posnetki peg z naloženimi ravninskimi sinusnimi odmiki. Za učinkovito statistično preiskavo prostorske ločljivosti so bile uporabljene različne prostorske frekvence. Na ta način je bila redefinirana tudi prostorska ločljivost lokalnih in globalnih algoritmov DIC.
