The study use Brenda Dervin's Sense-Making Methodology as a theoretical framework. Author has conducted 13 interviws. They were transcribed and analysed. Author propose a model of graduate students' information behaviour. The model consists of three different types of gaps the actors need to bridge. In the process of thesis or paper completion they firstly face the gap of topic selection. Factors of previous knowledge, motive and also external factors have major influence on this decision process. Unsufficient knowledge about chosen topic forces actors to face 'unsufficient knowledge' gap. Actors learn about a topic by studying information sources. They are able to form a personal perspective on topic e.g. a thematic structure of assignement. The third gap is 'literature collecting' gap. Actor need to complete the thematic structure of the thesis or paper. Searches are generally more focused and determined. Relevance criteria are also more determined. Writing is a process whereby the thematic structure of paper or thesis finally materialise. Actors are guided by the thematic structure and use of information sources which correspond to personal perspective. Two reasons for deployment of certain information habit emerged from data. The first beeing ease of deployment and second relevance of identified information sources. When actors need to identify an acquire information sources they tend to deploy habitual information behaviours. Newly adopted information habits have to meet these two conditions. Our model exhibit similarity to Carol Kuhlthau's Information Search Process model"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Predstavljeni so izsledki kvalitativne uporabniške študije informacijskega ravnanja podiplomskih študentov. Teoretska osnova študije je metodologija ustvarjanja smisla Brende Dervin. Avtor je opravil 13 intervjujev, jih prepisal in analiziral. Postavil je model informacijskega ravnanja podiplomskih študentov. Osnova modela so tri vrste vrzeli, ki jih morajo premagati akterji. V procesu izdelave naloge se najprej soočijo z vrzeljo izbire teme, kjer dejavnika predznanja in motiva ter zunanji dejavniki pomembno vplivajo na odločitev za temo. Nezadostno znanje o izbrani temi akterje primora, da se soočijo z vrzeljo nepoznavanja področja. Skozi študij virov akterji spoznajo področje in si izoblikujejo osebno perspektivo oziroma vsebinsko strukturo naloge. Vrzel zbiranja literature pomeni, da morajo akterji izpolniti določene vrzeli v vsebinski strukturi naloge. Struktura narekuje vprašanja, na katera akter išče odgovor v virih. Iskanja so v splošnem bolj usmerjena in določnejša. Prav tako so kriteriji za ocenjevanje virov določnejši. Pisanje naloge je proces dokončnega upredmetenja osebne perspektive. Akterji pri tem sledijo vsebinski strukturi naloge in uprabljajo vire glede na osebno perspektivo. Iz podatkov sta razvidna dva razloga za prakticiranje neke informacijske navade: to sta enostavnost prakticiranja in ustreznost identificiranih virov. V splošnem lahko rečemo, da akterji pri identifikaciji in pridobivanju virov težijo k prakticiranju ustaljenih informacijskih ravnanj. Na novo privzete informacijske navade morajo izpolnjevati zgornja dva pogoja.
