Tribological design involves, among other things, the selection of materials and defining the tribological characteristics of the sealing pair within the working limits. The performance of a mechanical face seal depends on many factors, of which lubrication has one of the most crucial roles. In this paper the influence of various lubricating conditions on different tribological parameters is analysed. Short-interval PV tests were performed on a computer-controlled test rig of our own design, where eight parameters were monitored online. Commercially available alumina, stainless steel and carbon-graphite were tested in tap water. The results show that for all material pairs, tribological parameters such as friction coefficient, the wear and the pressure-velocity limit are affected by lubricating conditions in the sealing dam</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Glavni problem pri razvoju mehanskih tesnil je tribološka konstrukcija tesnilnih obročev, ki poleg ostalega zajema izbiro materialov in določitev triboloških lastnosti para tesnilnih obročev znotraj delovnega območja. Na samo obratovanje mehanskega drsnega tesnila vpliva več dejavnikov, izmed katerih je mazanje eden izmed najvplivnejših. T.i. PV-preskuse, smo izvedli na računalniško krmiljenem preskuševališču lastne konstrukcije, kjer smo med preskusom nadzorovali osem merilnih veličin. Kot preskusne materiale tesnilnih obročev smo uporabljali keramiko Al2O3, nerjavno jeklo in grafit, ki smo jih dvojili v različnih kombinacijah. Preskušali smo v vodi iz vodovodnega omrežja (pH~7). Rezultati so pokazali, da različne mazalne razmere v tesnilu, ki so večinoma odvisne od obratovalnih parametrov, bistveno vplivajo na vrednosti triboloških parametrov, kot so koeficient trenja, obraba in zgornja meja obratovanja.
