It affects younger people of both sexes, more often in European countries and the USA. The main pathological feature of the disease are plaques, which are areas of demyelination in the central nervous system, visible on magnetic resonance imaging. The clinical picture of MS is very heterogeneous as it includes different signs and symptoms. Multiple sclerosis cannot yet be cured, however, several classes of drugs are currently available to alleviate symptoms or influence the course of the disease. As part of the treatment, a holistic approach by the multidisciplinary team is of paramount importance. It consists of assessment of patients' functioning using various tests and diverse rehabilitation regimens, which altogether represents the only way to enable patients as good a quality of life for as long as possible</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Multipla skleroza je kronična nevrodegenerativna avtoimunska bolezen osrednjega živčevja, ki bolnike z napredovanjem vedno bolj omejuje pri vsakdanu. Zanjo zbolevajo že mlajši ljudje obeh spolov, pogosteje v evropskih državah in ZDA.
