The cartoon is unique in its choice of a female hero who makes her own decisions on her life, changing the established image and behavioural patterns of her community in the process. An in-depth analysis, however, shows that she is a single exception in an entirely patriarchal society, and that her - and consequently Disney's - achievement belongs to girlhood rather than to the world of a grown woman. The cartoon thus introduces merely a semblance of novelties (which are nevertheless very important to girls), while still lacking in new possibilities for an adult heroine"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Besedilo obravnava konstrukcijo spolov v risanki Mulan, ki je nastala v produkciji enega vodilnih studijev za družinsko zabavo, Walt Disney Company. Animirani film je nastal v 90. letih prejšnjega stoletja, značilno zanj pa je,da ima vodilno vlogo junakinja, ki sama odloča o svojem življenju, s svojim početjem pa spreminja ustaljeno podobo in vedenjske vzorce skupnosti. Vendar se v natančnejši analizi izkaže, da je ona le izjema v sicer povsem patriarhalno zasnovani družbi, vendar tudi, da njen uspeh sodi v polje deklištva, ne v svet odrasle ženske.
