The emigration intensity varied through time, it was always oriented toward different directions and caused by different factors. The analysis of emigration patterns shows that until the end of the First World War, the emigration was primarily directed toward transatlantic countries, and then gradually oriented toward West European Countries - with exeption of political emigration which was directed toward America and Australia. The conditions in which emigrants were living after they arrived to the foreign country, depended on the country's policy toward immigrants and on the specific bilateral agreements and conventions signed by Yugoslavia and the foreign country. Analysis of immigration policies in various European countries shows a specific character of Swedish immigration policy. The Swedish situation differs from the transatlatic countries, and also from those countries which introduced multicultural immigration policy. The description of emigration and the Slovene people living in Sweden shows the characteristics of the mentioned policy as well"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Množično izseljevanje ljudi iz \"slovenskega etničnega prostora\" sega v drugo polovico prejšnjega stoletja in je bilo vedno neposredno ali posredno povezano z dogajanji v evropskem prostoru. Izseljevanje se je pojavljalo z različno intenzivnostjo, v različnih časovnih intervalih, bilo različno usmerjeno in različno pogojeno. Iz pregleda vseh pojavnih različic pa lahko razberemo, da je bilo do konca prve svetovne vojne usmerjeno pretežno v prekomorske dežele, potem pa se postopno preusmeri v države zahodne Evrope - če izvzamemo povojno politično emigracijo, ki se je v veliki meri usmerila v obe Ameriki in Avstralijo. Razmere, v katerih so se izseljenci znašli, so bile odvisne od odnosa, ki ga je imela država priselitve do priseljencev in od posameznih bilateralnih sporazumov in konvencij, ki jih je z njimi podpisovala Jugoslavija. Analiza različnih migracijskih politik po evropskih državah pokaže vso specifičnost uradne švedske politike do priseljencev. Švedska situacija se prav tako razlikuje od situacij v prekomorskih državah, tudi od tistih, ki so podobno kot Švedska uvedle multikulturalno politiko do priseljencev.
