A country that has no relevant fossil fuel deposits will definitely have to find a way to increase the share of renewable energy resources in the national energy balance.\" In this article we questioned three important aspects based on the above sentences: firstly, supporting environment of forest wood energy sources development; secondly, forest wood biomass potential for increasing the share of renewable energy sources in Slovenia's energy balance; and finally, the role of the forest management strategies for increasing the share of forest wood biomass.
