During the manufacturing process of the containers the documents and recommendations of the IAEA and the technical specifications of Krško Nuclear Power Plant were taken into consideration. The purpose of testing was to check the design and quality of the containers. The containers were subjected to a static and dznamic load, free-fall from a 3-m height, leak test, stack test and metallographic analysis of a welded joint taken from the container. In this paper the testing procedures and testing results are presentedInštitut za kovinske materiale in tehnologije ter Nuklearna elektrarna Krško sta sodelovala pri preizkušanju lahkih in težkih sodov za radioaktivne odpadke. Pri izdelavi so bili upoštevani dokumenti Mednarodne agencije za jedrsko energijo (IAEA) ter tehnične specifikacije Nuklearne elektrarne Krško. Namen preizkušanja je bilo preveriti konstrukcijsko zasnovo sodov. Na sodih za radioaktivne odpadke sta bila opravljena statični in dinamični preizkus, prosti pad z višine 3 m, kontrola tesnosti, preizkus prebojnosti termetalografske preiskave zvarjenega spoja vzorca, odvzetega s soda.
