Divergent and often contradictory processes were detected. The theory of existential security appears promising in explaining the divergent effects of religious globalisation worldwide, whilst it also enjoys some application in the interpretation of religious change locally"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Članek obravnava pet vidikov odnosov med globalizacijo in religijo: (1) procese globaliziranja religij, (2) učinkovanja globalizacije na religije in religioznost, (3) učinkovanja religij na globalizacijo, (4) odnose med starimi in novimi nadnacionalnimi religijami v globalnem svetu ter (5) interakcije med globalizacijo in religijo v lokalnem (slovenskem) okolju. Ugotovljeno je, da se odvijajo divergentni in pogosto protislovni procesi. Ena obetavnejših teorij, ki pojasnjuje divergentne učinke globalizacije na religijskem področju na globalni ravni, je teorija eksistenčne varnosti.
