The central topic of the project was the production and use of energy wood from forests. Introduction is followed by the review of a comparative analysis of national and European Union policies related to forests. Afterwards, important forest-related stakeholders% opinions on energy wood production and use are presented. Inadequate political framework has been found to be the weakest link between production and use of energy wood. Inconsistencies among different sectorial policies and competitive use of energy wood are two critical potential conflict points which may make the achievement of European Union climate and energy goals difficultPrispevek povzema rezultate triletnega projekta COOL, ki je potekal v petih evropskih državah med letoma 2012 in 2014. Osrednja tematika projekta se je nanašala na politične in gospodarske vidike proizvodnje in rabe lesa za kurjavo. Uvodnim besedam sledi pregled rezultatov primerjave nacionalnih politik in politik Evropske unije, povezanih z gozdom, ter pregled mnenj z gozdom povezanih deležnikov o proizvodnji in rabi lesa za kurjavo. V vseh analiziranih državah je politični okvir najšibkejši člen proizvodnje in rabe lesa za kurjavo.
