In both, a marriage is disrupted by the desire of an outsider. This article begins with that comparison, and then it turns to a third example of triangulation, The Talented Mr Ripley (1999)Ojdipovski princip, ki je značilen za "prešuštniški" roman 19. stoletja je uspešno preživel in našel pot v pripovedno prozo dvajsetega stoletja, kot kažeta dva filma s konca prejšnjega stoletja, Fatal Attraction (1978) in The Piano (1993).
