Prikazana je predvsem zakonska osnova za dostop do arhivskega gradiva in varstvo osebnih podatkov, ki jih gradivo vsebuje. Avtorica ugotavlja, da se dostop do arhivskega gradiva in pogoji njegove uporabe v slovenskih javnih in cerkvenih arhivih nekoliko razlikujejo.
