The development of the concept within the profession since the 1970s and the difference between the inital attempts and the ways the concept is used today are presented. The division of the concept into collective and individual levels seems to be the main characteristics of this development. Examples are given of collective and individual empowerment from the author's co-operation with focus groups. Summarising referential literature, the author finds that authors are far from agreeing on what empowerment is and when the concept really began to be used, and she stresses that the concept should rather be defined by those for whom it is designed - people with experience. To illustrate her ptoposal, the author presents definitions of concept given by people with experience who participated in the focus group"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Avtorica predstavi koncept krepitve moči kot vodilo stroke socialnega dela zlasti zaradi njegove temeljne naravnanosti k delitvi moči med udeleženci v procesu. V prispevku prikaže razvoj koncepta krepitve moči, ki se je v stroki socialnega dela začel razvijati v sedemdesetih letih prejšnjega stoletja, in predstavi, v čem se koncept moči razlikuje od začetnih poskusov uvajanja. Kot bistveno značilnost avtorica poudari delitev koncepta na kolektivno in individualno raven. Kolektivno in individualno krepitev moči dopolni s primeri krepitve moči, ki so se odvijali na podlagi sodelovanja med avtorico prispevka in udeleženci fokusnih skupin. Na podlagi literature avtoriva povzame, da si avtorji še zdaleč niso enotni v tem, kaj je krepitev močiin kdaj se je koncept v resnici začel, in opozori, da bi morali koncept definirati tisti, ki jim je namenjen - ljudje z izkušnjami.
