The stent normally has thestructure of longitudinal repetition of wavy wire parts and strut parts, and its mechanical properties such as bending flexibility and rigidity in radial direction mainly depend on the shape of wavy wire and construction of the strut. In the first stage of this paper, the mechanical properties of self-expandable stents are evaluated using a non-linear finite element method. The initial stent models are gener-ated in a 3D-CAD system, and their expanded shapes are predicted first. They form the finite elements for the evaluation of the mechanical properties, then the influences of stent shape onthe mechanical properties are com-puted and discussed. In the second stage, a basic method for the selection of a stent is proposed from a view point of mechanics. This enables us to select useful stents that are well adapted to a patient's condition, though medical examination is necessary</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Stent je mrežasta cevka, ki se v zdravstvu pogosto uporablja za razširitev zoženih krvnih žil. V prvem delu prispevka vrednotimo mehanske lastnosti samorazteznih stentov s pomočjo metode nelinearnih končnih elementov. Prvi modeli stentov so nastali s pomočjo 3D-CAD sistema. Najprej smo simulirali njihovo obliko v raztegljivem stanju in dobili končne elemente za vrednotenje mehanskih lastnosti. Nato smo s pomočjo računalnika ugotavljali in komentirali vpliv oblike stenta na njegove mehanske lastnosti. V drugem koraku predlagamo osnovno metodo za izbiro stenta z vidika mehanike. To nam omogoča, da izberemo uporabne stente, ki se dobro prilagajajo stanju pacienta, čeprav je se vedno potreben zdravniški pregled</dc:description><edm:type>TEXT</edm:type><dc:type xml:lang="sl">znanstveno časopisje</dc:type><dc:type xml:lang="en">journals</dc:type><dc:type rdf:resource="http://www.wikidata.org/entity/Q361785" /></edm:ProvidedCHO><ore:Aggregation rdf:about="http://www.dlib.si/?URN=URN:NBN:SI:DOC-0OENXPWF"><edm:aggregatedCHO rdf:resource="URN:NBN:SI:DOC-0OENXPWF" /><edm:isShownBy rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/stream/URN:NBN:SI:DOC-0OENXPWF/1d17e263-17ce-45dc-9640-59dc3e1034b3/PDF" /><edm:rights rdf:resource="http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/" /><edm:provider>Slovenian National E-content Aggregator</edm:provider><edm:intermediateProvider xml:lang="en">National and University Library of Slovenia</edm:intermediateProvider><edm:dataProvider xml:lang="sl">Univerza v Ljubljani, Fakulteta za strojništvo</edm:dataProvider><edm:object rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/streamdb/URN:NBN:SI:DOC-0OENXPWF/maxi/edm" /><edm:isShownAt rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/details/URN:NBN:SI:DOC-0OENXPWF" /></ore:Aggregation></rdf:RDF>
