We aimed to determine the difference in hand grip strength and performance fatigue in the repeated nine-hole peg test and their correlation in patients with ALS compared to healthy subjects. Methods: The study included 24 adult patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and 15 healthy individuals with similar demographics. Each of them performed a grip and pinch grip (thumb and index finger pinch) strength test, followed by ten continuous repetitions of the nine-hole peg test. Results: We found significantly decreased muscle strength of both grips and significantly longer absolute durations of the nine-hole peg test in patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. We found a moderate correlation between performance fatigue and a decreased muscle strength. Conclusions: Patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis have reduced grip strength and are more susceptible to performance fatigue than healthy subjects. Both have a significant impact on patients’ quality of life; therefore, future research should focus on their influence and management, and we should also consider them when planning the physiotherapy treatment"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Amiotrofična lateralna skleroza (ALS) je neozdravljiva progresivna nevrodegenerativna bolezen, za katero je značilna progresivna izguba motoričnih funkcij. Namen raziskave je bil ugotoviti razlike v zmogljivosti prijema roke in dovzetnosti za pojav izvedbene utrudljivosti pri ponavljajočem se izvajanju testa devetih zatičev ter njuno povezanost pri bolnikih z ALS. Metode dela: Sodelovalo je 24 odraslih bolnikov z ALS ter 15 zdravih posameznikov s podobnimi demografskimi podatki, ki so opravili meritve zmogljivosti prijema roke in finega prijema z blazinicama palca in kazalca ter deset neprekinjenih ponovitev testa devetih zatičev. Rezultati: Pri bolnikih z ALS smo ugotovili statistično značilno manjšo zmogljivost prijema roke in uščipa z blazinicama palca in kazalca ter pojav izvedbene utrudljivosti pri ponavljajočem se testu devetih zatičev. Povezanost izvedbene utrudljivosti z zmogljivostjo prijemov je bila šibka do zmerna. Zaključki: Bolniki z ALS imajo zmanjšano zmogljivost prijemov roke in so dovzetnejši za pojav izvedbene utrudljivosti.
