PO JEM IN PO M EN SIVE LITERATURE Sara Pegan, Nova G orica UDK 061/069 Povzetek Siva literatura se ne distribuira skozi ustaljeno knjigotrške kanale in je zato težko dostopna. Označuje jo veliko terminov: polpublikacije, nekonvencionalna litera­ tura, ubežna, neform alna, efem erna, nevidna, podzem ska... Najpogostejše oblike so razna raziskovalna poročila, disertacije, kongresno gradivo, študije, patenti, načrti, uradni dokum enti... Najznačilnejše karakteristike so težka dostopnost, nizka naklada, ozek krog uporabnikov, preprost izgled, izdajatelji so razni inšti­ tuti ipd. Podatkovna zbirka SIGLE skuša reševati problem nedostopnosti in daje informacije o sivi literaturi v Evropi. Podobno tudi NT1S, GPO, V [NITI, BLDCS. Siva literatura je najpom embnejši medij neform alne znanstvene komunikacije. Kako jo posam ezen znanstvenik dojema, je od visn o od njegove orientacije: prag­ matik, skeptik, tradicionalist, upornik. M ožne rešitve v zvezi s problemi sive literature so: konvencionalizacija, katalogizacija s strani izdajatelja, ISBN, publi­ ciranje na zahtevo, podatkovne zbirke, osebni kontakti z izdajatelji. UDC 061/069 Summary Grey literature is not distributed through regular comm ercial channels and therefore it is scarcely accessible. It is characterized by m any terms: non-conven- tional literature, fugitive, informal, invisible, literature of small circulation... Frequent forms are diverse research reports, dissertations, congress materials, studies, patents, plans, official docum ents... Characteristics are: difficult accessi­ bility, low print run, small number o f users, sim ple layout. Originators are diverse institutions. The system SIGLE is trying to solve problem s o f non- accessibility and gives information on grey literature in Europe. Similar work is done by NTIS, GPO, VINITI, BLDCS. Grey literature is the most im portant m edium of informal scientific com m unication. The w ay of com prehending by an individual scientist d ep en d s on his view : pragmatic, sceptical, traditional, rebellious. Possible solu­ tions referring to problem s o f grey literature are: conventionalization, originator's cataloguing, ISBN, on-dem and publishing, data bases, personal contacts with originators.
