Pomen vere
Nekoč so Gospoda vprašali: »Kaj naj naredimo, da bomo lahko izvrševali božje načrte?« Odgovoril je: »Začeti morate globoko pod otipljivimi rečmi, kot so npr. vaša dejanja, spoznati morate svoje motive in misli. Začeti morate najprej pri svoji veri.« Prav zadnja resničnost določa in oblikuje vse ostalo - tudi naše misli, želje in naše delo. »Božje delo je to, da verujete v tistega, ki ga je On poslal« (6, 29). Štiri stoletja pred Kristusom je živel Buda, v svetu, kjer glede vere niso bili natančni. Lahko si bil deist, panteist, častilec neznanega Absolutnega, tvoja vera je lahko bila osebna, lahko pa si imel sto bogov; kljub vsemu si veljal za pravovernega hindujca. Buda pa se je temu odrekel. Poudarjal je, da je prav človekova vera osnova, jedro njegovega življenja. Prav vera je prva stopnica, po kateri človek doseže svetost. Brez tega koraka nima človek nobenega upanja, da bo uspel. Celo božja milost ne more rešiti duše ali pa sveta, dokler neldo ne veruje v Sina človekovega. Dokler ne upoštevam njegovega oznanila in vse, svoje življenje, svojo dušo, svojo usodo, postavi na njegove besede.
Mi pa se poskušamjmo ob veri v Kristusovo vstajenje otresti nezaupanja in zaskrbljenosti. Smo otroci, ki žive v Očetovi hiši, zato so prazne naše skrbi, »kaj bomo jedli ali kaj bomo pili ali kaj bomo oblekli« (Mt 6, 31). Potrebujemo otroško modrost in zaupanje. Ni potrebno stalno trepetati, kaj se nam bo pripetilo ob naslednjem koraku.
Vera v Jezusa nas zaznamuje, tako da z novimi merili, z novo vrednostno lestvico presojamo svoje življenje. Kar je bilo nekdaj obrobno, postaja pomembno in obratno. »Mi ljubimo, ker nas je On prvi ljubil« (1Jn 4, 19). Živimo polnejše, ker poznamo pot in cilj.
Krščanska resničnost je, da nas vera zbuja in krepi za življenje; prežar-jeni z njo premagujemo vse ovire. Tudi ko stojim na Kalvariji, želim pripadati Kristusu. Želim pripadati Bogu, ki je daroval svojega edinega Sina zame. Spoznavam, kako naj ravnam in kakšen naj bom. Vendar brez konkretnih dejanj ne gre!

V nedeljo, 4. junija 2017, smo se zbrali v Londonu pri društveni dvorani. Kljub temu, da je bilo vreme nekoliko nestabilno, smo vseeno izpeljali procesijo in sveto mašo. Kot že vrsto let so tudi tokrat pripravili tri oltarčke pri treh drevesih. Lepo število se je nabralo in z listi v rokah smo prepevali v procesiji, tako pri oltarjih kot tudi po poti. V dvorani pa nam je na električnih orglah pomagala s spremljavo Gabriella. Po končani slovesnosti so v kuhinji pripravili tudi nekaj za pod zob, tako da nismo šli lačni domov. Hvala vsem, ki ste sodelovali pri pripravi oltarjev in liturgiji.

biserna poroka - 60 letnica_
V četrtek, 1. junija 2017, sta naša farana, IGNAC in TEREZIJA
SARJAŠ, obhajala 60 letnico poroke. Slovesnost pa smo imeli v soboto, 3. junija, pri večerni slovenski maši.
Pri maši sta hčerki, Theresia (Farbotko) v angleščini, Doreen (Sebben) pa v slovenščini, prebrali berili. Prošnje so si razdelili vnuki Luke Sebben, Mark in Kristen Farbotko. Darove sta prinesla kar slavljenca sama. Med mašo je ženski del cerkvenega zbora vodil petje, saj sta oba tudi člana župnijskega zbora. Po pridigi smo jima podelili blagoslov, da bi lahko še naprej v zdravju in povezanosti dajala zgled zakonskega življenja. Ob koncu svete maše pa smo jima izročili še papeški blagoslov, da ju bo spominjal na ta lep jubilej.

ograja_
V lanskem letu smo obnovili ograjo ob Delawani od začetka parcele Villa Slovenia pa do vhoda v garažo. Letos smo 29. maja, z delom nadaljevali vse do ograje, ki je bila narejena po novem sistemu - pričvrščena z vijaki na nosilne stebričke. 26 sekcij so naši »vrli fantje« najprej odrezali od nosilnih stebričkov, nato privarili koščke železa na katere bo sedaj privita ograja.
Nato smo naročili pri »Total Coatings -Powder Coating« (340 Dewitt Rd, Stoney Creek) , da so prišli po ograjo in jo bodo speskali, zaščitili s temeljno barvno in nato »prašno« pobarvali na rjavo, kot je bila prej. Upamo, da bo barvanje zdržalo za nekaj časa.
Hvala Ignacu Prši, da je prevzel pripravo in organizacijo projekta in pa vsem prostovoljcem, ki so priskočili na pomoč. V različnih fazah so sodelovali naslednji prostovoljci: Jože Groznik, Joe Prša, Vinko Benc, Ignac Dorenčec, Ignac Kolenko, Matija Tompa in Toni Franc.
Iskrena hvala vsem za zavzeto in dobro opravljeno delo. Pa bo zopet eno delo dokončano in lepša tudi naša okolica cerkve.

We get very upset when our deepest friendships and relationships fall apart; and quite understandably so. We have invested so much of ourselves in another person. We have entrusted our innermost thoughts and feelings, have become very vulnerable in our openness to him or her, and now it feels as though we have been betrayed, slighted and let down. The same feelings can be there, even when we are the ones responsible for the betrayal or neglect. They are also there when the break is caused by natural causes such as death or going away to live elsewhere.
In marriage and bereavement counselling the attempt is made to understand what has happened in such experiences, to acknowledge our feelings of
anger, pain and loss. As the work continues there can also be an attempt to help us understand what makes relationships work. A short, rather humorous mnemonic sometimes used is that of REG and RUBY, meaning "respect, empathy and genuineness" or "respect, understanding and being yourself". These three elements are simple measures for us to use when we ask ourselves what is happening between us and those we love. Respect is that sense of valuing the other person as we value ourselves. Empathy and understanding are appreciation of where others are coming from and our ability to communicate that insight. Genuineness, or being ourselves, is the freedom to share the fullness of ourselves with another. Quite often we try to hide our full selves because we think we may not be loved. Honesty enables us to share the messy bits, the bits we may be ashamed of, as well as the image we may think to be more acceptable or impressive.

We cannot actually know God fully. Our attempts to get a grasp on God by natural reflection

are better at telling us what God is not rather than what God is. The Church has always taught there is no contradiction between the God of reason and the God of faith, but our faith takes us into realms of perception and imagination that reason struggles with.
The mystery of the Holy Trinity emerged gradually in the Church's thinking and teaching, and there have been many different ways of reflecting on it. What God reveals to us is always for our salvation. That is why God the Father sends his Son into the world. Through the coming of the Son and his sacrifice on our behalf we shall not be lost; rather we shall have eternal life. We shall enter into the mystery of God's own being. This gift is not offered just to the Son's followers. It is offered to the world. The Son has come not to condemn the world but so that through him the world might be saved. We, his followers, are the ones who proclaim that message and who try in our lives to live out the pattern of truth and love expressed in the mystery of his own life which God has shared with us.
Application
So does the life of the Father, Son and Spirit reflect the principles of good relationships we noted in REG and RUBY? The late Jack Dominian, psychiatrist and theologian, offered a way of looking at the roles of God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit as revealed to us that may help us in our human relationships. He noted that the Father offers the role of creator, the Son that of healer and redeemer, the Holy Spirit that of enlivener. To keep our relationships alive and well all three of these qualities are essential. We need to sustain each other,
be there for each other, be a reliable support in good times and in bad. We also need to heal each other, not just when we fall out between ourselves. When things go wrong in our lives, when we lose our jobs, fall ill or have any sort of trial or tribulation, we need those who are close to us to hold us and help the restoration of our confidence, health and self-esteem. Finally we need to offer each other excitement and adventure, risk and new horizons, challenge and inspiration.
In such a scenario the life of the Holy Trinity is not a distant mystery but lies at the heart of what it means to be fully human. We could also note that we have just described exactly what we commit ourselves to in our marriage vows.

famine relief fund_
This week, Bishop Douglas Crosby, OMI, Bishop of Hamilton and President of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops, together with other Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Sikh and Baha'i faith communities launched a national appeal to address the famines in South Sudan and the extreme food shortages in Yemen, Northeast Nigeria and Somalia.
Ali pastors are asked to encourage their parishioners to support this initiative and provide them with the contact information so that the parishioners can make donations directly to one of the recognized Canadian Charities. Bishop Crosby is
not authorizing a special collection for this purpose.
Contributions made to one of these agencies before J une 30, 20 17 will be matched by the Government of Canada with its recently announced Famine Relief Fund. Donations after June 30111 will also be welcome.
