Glejte, Jagnje Božje
Kot prejšnjo nedeljo ob Jezusovem krstu ob Jordanu je tudi danes glavna oseba Janez Krstnik. Njegove zadržane in preroške besede so kot puščice, ki nas umerjajo proti tarči, proti drugemu cilju, to je Kristusu. V njegovih besedah dejansko zaznamo, kako se izrisuje Kristusova podoba: On bo odvzel greh nevere in sovraštvo sveta, hodi pred nami, ker je večen kot Bog, je najvišja božja navzočnost v telesu človeka, ker v njem prebiva Sveti Duh, on je v pravem pomenu besede Božji Sin.
Dve podobi sta nam danes v ospredju. Prva je zelo ljuba krščanski umetnosti in ljudski pobožnosti - jagnje: »Glejte, Jagnje Božje,« je zaklical Janez Krstnik in uprl svoj pogled na Jezusu. Za trenutek postavimo na stran naše predstave, ki povezujejo jagnje samo s ponižnostjo in podobo žrtve. V svetopisemski govorici so omembe veliko bolj raznovrstne in pomensko polne.
Prva podoba nas vodi k znani noči v Egipt, ko je Izrael na poti v svobodo praznoval veliko noč z jagnjetom. Ta žival, katere kosti niso smele biti zlomljene, je postala znamenje velikega daru, to je daru popolne svobode. Ni naključje, da je po Janezu Jezus obsojen na smrt opoldne na dan pripravljanja na veliko noč, prav v trenutku, ko so duhovniki začeli žrtvovati jagnjeta v templju za velikonočni praznik. Evangelist Janez nam, ne samo slučajno, predstavlja Kristusa, prebodenega na križu z nogami, ki niso bile zlomljene, kot popolno velikonočno jagnje, kateremu , »se nobena izmed njegovih kosti ne bo zlomila«.
Je pa še druga omemba jagnjeta v Svetem pismu, ki je bolj prikrita in bolj mesijanska. V znanem četrtem spevu o Gospodovem služabniku, v 53. poglavju preroka Izaija, ta skrivnostna podoba na mesijanskem ozadju predstavlja služabnika, ko gre v trpljenje in smrt: nase je naložil greh ljudi, svojih bratov.

Mirno sprejema usodo: »Kakor jagnje, ki ga peljejo v zakol.« Če je resnična zanimivost, ki jo navajajo nekateri znanstveniki, naj bi Janez Krstnik, če je govoril v aramejščini, uporabljal izraz »talya«, ki pomeni tako »jagnje« kot Gospodovega »služabnika«. Kristus torej prostovoljno daje samega sebe, da bi odvzel s sveta greh in privedel k Bogu vse svoje brate po mesu.
Imamo pa še tretjo podobo: jagnje o katerem govori knjiga Razodetja. V takratnem judovstvu je bilo prepričanje, da bo ob koncu zgodovine zmagujoče jagnje uničilo sile zla, greha in nepravičnosti. Kristus nas v prvi vrsti osvobaja od vsake oblike suženjstva in tudi odpušča. Zanimiv je pogovor, ki si ga je filozof Pascal zamislil med Bogom in človekom: »'Če bi poznal svoje greha, bi izgubil pogum.' 'Torej bom izgubil pogum, Gospod.' 'Ne, ker ti bodo razo-deti v tistem trenutku, ko ti bodo odpuščeni.'«
Ob koncu pa se ustavimo še ob drugem znamenju - golob. Za evangeliste je to znamenje Svetega Duha, morda z namigom na božjega Duha, ki vel nad vodami, kakor pravi Prva Mojzesova knjiga v 2. poglavju. Je pa še drugi dogodek, na katerega se naslanjajo evangelisti: golob nastopa pri Ozeju, v 68. psalmu in v Visoki pesmi kot nekakšen Izraelov grb. V tej luči lahko tudi rečemo, da se okrog Kristusa, potopljenega v vode Jordana, zbira tudi Božji Izrael, to je skupnost vernikov, ki iz njega črpajo božjega Duha. Jagnje odpuščanja grehov in golob Cerkve se srečujeta v Kristusu.
»Ravno med nedeljsko sveto mašo kristjani posebej dejavno podoživljajo izkušnjo apostolov, zbranih na večer velikonočnega dne, ko je Jezus stopil mednje. V tem malem jedru učencev, začetku Cerkve, je bilo na nek način navzoče božje ljudstvo vseh časov«. (Apostolsko pismo Ostani z nami, Gospod, 23)
Bodimo tudi sami še bolj pozorni na nedeljsko sveto mašo, bogoslužje, med katerim se župnijsko občestvo na novo poveže. Prav sodelovanje posameznikov in različnih sodelujočih skupin, napravlja bogoslužje bolj bogato in osebno srečanje s Kristusom.	/Prim. Oznanjevalec 2005/

The outcome of a good detective story is seldom immediately obvious: the story has to be read or listened to with care. The clues have to be spotted and weighed up and finally slotted into place like a jigsaw puzzle. Only then can we hope to uncover the plot and discover just who did what to whom and why. There is a sense in which the brief Gospel reading we've just heard might be likened to a detective story. It's only when we've followed up the clues it offers that we begin to appreciate its significance.
Here, in question form, are some of those clues: why does John the Baptist seem to go overboard in speaking of Jesus? Why does he insist that Jesus is of greater rank, of greater importance, of greater significance than himself, when, after all, he is older than Jesus and more experienced in the demands of

public ministry? What is he getting at when he speaks of Jesus baptising, not like himself, simply with water, but with the Holy Spirit? Initially, as John admits, he didn't recognise Jesus; so what has changed that now he is prepared to bear witness to him as "the lamb of God" and "the Chosen One of God"?
Gospel Teaching
One thing seems clear: as with many a detective story, there is more to this event than meets the eye - or the ear. At this point, it's the scripture scholars who might be described as the detectives in the case. It is they who explain that John the Baptist had a group of faithful and fervent followers, even long after his death. They believed there was no one quite like him, that in fact he was the Messiah whom so many were waiting for. When Jesus appeared on the scene, amazing people by his preaching and his miracles, impressing them deeply by his gentleness and his concern for the outcast, there were still followers of John the Baptist about. They insisted that their master was greater than Jesus. Even when, after an appalling death by crucifixion, Jesus rose again in triumph, some of the Baptist's followers still refused to believe in him. In fact, they were still at work, and causing confusion among Christians, towards the end of the first century and beyond.
In today's Gospel we hear how John (not John the Baptist this time but John the Gospel writer) counters the arguments of the Baptist's followers. He shows how the Baptist himself acknowledged that Jesus ranked before him, because, as he put it, "he existed before me". True, Jesus in his humility had accepted a rite of baptism at the hands of John the Baptist. But what happened on that occasion revealed his true identity: the sight of the Holy Spirit descending upon him in the form of a dove convinced the Baptist that Jesus was in fact the Messiah and would one day baptise his followers in the Holy Spirit. So the Gospel reveals John the Baptist bearing witness to Jesus, proclaiming that he is "the lamb of God" who takes away our sins, he is "the Chosen One of God", he is eternal, he is the Messiah. Later John would sum up his relationship with Jesus in these humble words: "He [Jesus] must grow greater, I must grow smaller."
Application
At every Mass, just before communion, we hear the very words that John the Baptist used when first announcing the presence of Jesus: "Behold the Lamb of God, behold him who takes away the sins of the world." What a blessing it is if we take that announcement as a reminder that we too are called to be like John the Baptist to other people. Pope Francis often warns of the dangers of being "self-referential", of putting ourselves at the centre of everything, the centre of our own thoughts and desires and hopes. Today John the Baptist stands before us as an inspiring example. Filled with love for Jesus, he is always ready to deflect attention from himself in order to direct it towards Jesus.
We, who have been baptised in the Spirit, are all invited, by God's grace, to follow the example of the Baptist. We are called to point towards Jesus not simply by word of mouth, at the appropriate time, but above all by daily lives lived by his standards -lives that simply do not make sense unless, like the life of the Baptist, they are centred upon the Lord.

V nedeljo, 12. januarja, smo se pri društvu Sava zbrali za sveto mašo. Božič in Novo leto sta za nami. Tokrat se nas ni ravno drenjalo v dvorani, zakaj pa vam več pove slika na levi strani. Vreme to nedeljo, vsaj v okolici Kitche-nerja, ni bilo ravno naklonjeno za vožnjo, posebej za starejše. Vse okoli potoka je bilo popravljeno, led na drevesih in na cesti.

Prayer for Christian unity_
The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is celebrated around the world from January 18 to 25, and this year has been prepared by the Christian churches of Malta and Gozo. The 2020 theme, "They showed us unusual kindness" (Acts 28:2), remembers the historic shipwreck of Paul on the island of Malta and calls us to a greater generosity to those in need. As an island nation, boats are an important part of Maltese life. The Scripture reading in this service describes a perilous sea voyage by the Apostle Paul. A boat is also symbolic of the sometimes tempestuous journey Christians make together towards unity. which are also the dates recommended by the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops. This encourages Christians of all denominations to pray together that all may be one, as Christ desires.

This year Confirmation is on March 29th, at 11:00 AM Mass. The Most Rev. Douglas Crosby, OMI, bishop of Hamilton Diocese will be the celebrant.
Candidates are invited for preparation which will take place two Sundays in February and two Sundays in March. Candidates and their families are invited to come to 11:00 AM Mass in February 16th and 23rd. After Mass will follow a catechesis - 40 minutes. On February 23rd will be Enrolment Celebration, when the candidate will be officially presented to the community with a special celebration during the Mass. On March 1st and 15th, both times Mass are at 10:00 AM. After the Masses catechesis will continue. More information you will get at the first meeting. Is somebody was not baptised in our parish, please bring a copy of your Baptismal Certificate.
