V znamenju Sv. Trojice
Čas med letom Cerkev začenja s praznikom Sv. Trojice, ki je eno samo strmenje nad skrivnostjo Boga, predvsem takšnega, kakršnega nam je razodel Kristus. Iz skrivnosti troedinega Boga pa izhaja vse življenje Cerkve, ki je tako močno označeno z Očetom, Sinom in Sv. Duhom. Pri vseh zakramentih in blagoslovih, pri maši in tolikih obredih ter molitvah omenjamo vse tri osebe Sv. Trojice. Tako je polnost Boga in njegova ljubeča navzočnost vedno med nami.
Stara zaveza strmi nad skrivnostjo Boga. Ni pa mogla niti slutiti notranjega trojstvenega življenja v neskončnem in prekipevajočem bitju. V stari zavezi velikokrat beremo o osebnem srečanju z Bogom. Bog je nekdo, Bog je oseba, ki je tukaj, ki želi priti v stik s človekom in ga s tem osrečiti, ne pa uničiti. Kakorkoli Bog neskončno presega vse naše možne zamisli in predstave o njem. Bližji nam je, kot smo mi sami sebi, bi rekel sv. Avguštin. Bog si privzema človeka, seveda ne zato, ker bi ga sam potreboval, pač pa želi, da bi bil tudi človek, vsaj malo, deležen te sreče in bogastva. In to je tisti čudež božje ljubezni in nedopovedljivo srečna usoda človeka, ki ni vržen v prazno, ampak v naročje božje dobrote.
Današnji evangelij je zaključek Matejevega poročila in je velika otvoritev, velik uvod v nezadržno širjenje Kristusove vesele blagovesti ali njegove Cerkve v svet. Za velike dogodke svojega oznanjevanja je Jezus znal izbrati tudi pravo okolje, ki je že samo bilo zgovorno. A kot vedno v zgodovini Cerkve, je tudi tedaj bilo videti dve vrsti vernikov. Eni, ki so Jezusa »molili« in so bili odprti za milost in drugi, ki so »dvomili«. Tedaj se spregovori sam Jezus: »Dana mi je vsa oblast v nebesih in na zemlji.« Predstavlja se kot gospodar zgodovine. Zato apostolom in njihovim pomočnikom zada veličastno in do konca zemlje ter sveta segajočo trajajočo nalogo, ki navidezno daleč presega njihove sposobnosti: »Pojdite torej in učite vse narode, krščujte jih v imenu Očeta in Sina in Sv. Duha.« In še doda: »Jaz sem z vami vse dni do konca sveta«. In zgodovina njegovo navzočnost potrjuje.
SLOVENSKA ŠOLA_
V soboto, 23. maja je bil zadnji dan Slovenske šole za šolsko leto 2014-15. Najprej smo se zbrali pri daritvi svete maše in se Bogu zahvalili za leto, ki smo ga preživeli v Slovenski šoli. Pridružili so se tudi nekateri starši. Po maši pa smo se odpeljali še na bolj razvedrilni del dneva, na »Laser Manio«. Ob pici in igrah so otroci uživali in se dodobra tudi utrudili. Hvala učiteljicam in staršem, ki so organizirali in sodelovali. Biti skupaj, pomeni veliko otrokom in staršem. Vedno je priložnost za pogovor in nova prijateljstva.
SUMMER DAY CAMP_
With school almost out and summer on its way, it is time again to start planning for our annual Slovenian Summer Day Camp.
We are proud to announce that this will be our 15th year. We hope that children take advantage of this week of summer with Slovenian friends and high school students sign up to volunteer and share some new ideas.
Summer camp will be as always, the first week of August ... August 4-7, 2015: 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. daily.
The registration forms are available in the church vestibule, or you can email me directly for a form at novakh@sympatico.ca.
Parent volunteers are also always welcome! We look forward to seeing you all again this summer!
BARAGOVI DNEVI - BARAGA DAYS: Cleveland
Letošnji Baragovi dnevi bodo v Clevendu, 5. in 6. septembra 2015, na "Long Weekend". Odhod avtobusa izpred naše cerkve bo v soboto, 5. septembra dopoldne in prihod nazaj v nedeljo, 6. septembra pozno zvečer.
Kdor se želi udeležiti tega romanja naj se čimprej prijavi - nekateri ste se že - Tereziji Sarjaš (905-560-1218) ali Veri Gonza 905-560-0089).
V soboto zvečer bo angleška sveta maša v slovenski cerkvi sv. Vida, v nedeljo pa bo ob 2:00 p.m. Slovenska sveta maša, ki jo bo vodil upokojeni koprski škof msgr. mag. Metod Pirih, v cerkvi Marije Vnebovzete.
Prosimo, da najkasneje do 15. julija 2015 plačate $75 CAD in $125 USA dolarjev (V ceni je vštet avtobus, prenočišče in prispevek za banket).

In the National Gallery in London is a painting by the seventeenth-century Spanish artist Bartolo-mé Esteban Murillo. It is a painting, at first sight, of the Holy Family; but it has an odd title: The Heavenly and Earthly Trinities. In the centre of the painting we see the child Jesus, standing on a rock, his hands held by Mary and Joseph, who sit either side of him. As the Christ child looks up, his face is brightened by the opening of the heavens, from where descends the Spirit, in the form of a dove, sent by the Father, visible as the clouds part. It is a picture of the centrality of Jesus as the one who opens up
earth to heaven. It is a picture not just of the three people of the Holy Family and the three persons of the Holy Trinity, but, more profoundly, of the meaning of the Trinity itself.
Perhaps what this painting most powerfully expresses is love. There is a loving we can all relate to in the familial love of Mary, Joseph and Jesus: the mother's adoring and delighted look at her son, the father's supportive hand, and the child's physical dependency on his parents. There is something properly human and "earthly" here. And it is precisely here that we glimpse what is most true and most mysterious about God: that God is truly and totally God, and other than us, and yet, at the same time, comes to us as one of us, so that we can be sharers in God's life.
Gospel Teaching
This paradoxical mystery of God as both above all things and yet close to us is the dominant message of today's readings. It is a message that takes us to the heart of why, as Christians, we do everything "in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit". What becomes clear is that these words are not merely some ancient formula; nor are they expressing something nonsensical and obscure. Rather, these words tell us about God's abiding love for us, God's presence with us, and the mission that God calls us to. The liveliness of this teaching of our faith is beautifully expressed by St Paul. He presents us with an image of the Trinity not as something difficult and remote but as the very air we breathe when we pray. For when we are at prayer, we stand before God as our loving Father, as "coheirs" - family - with Jesus. Because we are born again in the Holy Spirit, this familial intimacy with God is a daily reality, an extraordinary presence in our ordinary living.
However, for us, as for the people of Israel when Moses addressed them, this loving intimacy with the Father is not just a cosy being-at-home with God. No; such a sharing in the Trinitarian life leads us to share, too, in God's great love for all people and for the whole of creation. This Trinitarian love is an active, outgoing love, a missionary loving. The risen Jesus, taking leave of his disciples at his ascension, not only says, "I'm going to prepare a place for you"; but also, as Matthew records, instructs his followers to go out and make disciples.
Application
It is all too easy on Trinity Sunday to content ourselves with naming the Trinity as "mystery" and then go about our business as normal. Yet what today's readings teach us is that this is a profoundly practical teaching of our faith: the Trinity tells us who we are, as baptised people; it opens up the riches of prayer and intimate life with God; it assures us of God's closeness to us as we go out to do God's work in the world. In practice, then, simply to begin each day "in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit" can be a way of entering, day by day, more deeply into this mystery of love.
