Zlobni viničarji
Današnja evangeljska prilika verno odslikava palestinske razmere tistega časa. Zemlja je bila na mnogih krajih v lasti tujcev, palestinski kmetje so jo pa dobivali v najem. Nič čudnega ni, da so bili ob tem polni gneva do lastnikov.
Bogat veleposestnik je dal zasaditi vinograd. Okrog njega je dal napeljati ograjo kot zaščito pred divjimi živalmi in tatovi. V njem je dal izklesati v skalo ali izkopati v zemljo stiskalnico z dvema koritoma: zgornje je služilo za tlačenje grozdja, spodnje za precejevanje stisnjenega mošta. Dal je postaviti stolp; v njem je čuvaj oprezal za tatovi, ob času trgatve so tam prenočevali tudi delavci. Lastnik je oddal vinograd v najem, kot najemnino si je izgovoril del pridelka in odpotoval.
Ob trgatvi je poslal svoje hlapce po zmenjeno odškodnino. Najemniki so hlapce skrajno surovo sprejeli: ene so pretepli, druge pobili, tretje mučili in umorili. Ko je lastnik poslal k njim svojega sina, so ga vrgli iz vinograda in ubili. S tem so gospodarju jasno pokazali, da se hočejo vinograda polastiti.
Na Jezusovo vprašanje, kaj bo posestnik storil z viničarji, so člani velikega zbora v en glas odgovorili, da jih bo pokončal, vinograd pa dal v najem viničarjem, ki mu bodo dajali pridelek. Tako so odgovorili, ker niso razumeli, da govori prilika o njih, ali pa ker so se delali, da tega ne vedo.
»Bog vam bo božje kraljestvo vzel in ga dal drugim, ki bodo dajali sadove. Kamen, ki so ga zidarji zavrgli, je Bog postavil za vogelni kamen.

POLKA FEST 2017
Slovenski Dom in Bled Planica Social Club so organizirali vikend »All Day Music«, ali kot so ga poimenovali »Prvi POLKA FESTIVAL v Ontariju«. Vse se je dogajalo na prostoru kluba Bled - Beamsville. Kot ste lahko videli v prejšnih številkah Vestnika, je bil plakat s podrobnim programom, kdaj je posamezni ansambel igral ali plesna skupina plesala.
Program je tekel v soboto ob enajstih dopoldne in tja do polnoči in se nadaljeval v nedeljo od poldne pa do po osmih zvečer. Oba dneva je bil obisk, glede na to, da je prvič organizirano, zelo dober. Kuhinja in bar sta bila dobro založena z jedačo in pijačo. Sicer pa slike povedo več kak vsaka beseda.
Hvala organizatorjem, še posebej Franku Gimplju in njegovi ekipi, saj je bilo za vsem tem veliko dela in priprav; poleg nadstreška, ki je poleg dvorane, so postavili še dodatni šotor. K vsemu je pripomoglo tudi lepo in toplo vreme. Se vidimo prihodnje leto!

V torek, 3. oktobra so se zbrale Jožica Vegelj, Pamela Gosgnach, Nancy Dundek-Taylor in njena prijateljica. Zavihale so rokave in štrudelj je nastajal kot za šalo. Zaenkrat so ga spravile na »hladno« in ga boste lahko že v soboto ali nedeljo po mašah tudi kupili.

St. Gregory the Great Catholic Women's League held their first general meeting on October 4th. We took some time to reflect on our tradition and achievements as a league and how we can move forward, while continuing to service the needs of church, family, and community. Members enjoyed sharing reasons why they became a member of our Catholic Women's League. Those in attendance were treated to a light supper prepared by the executive and a free membership draw was won by Albina Antolin.

SLOVENSKI MEŠANI PEVSKI ZBOR MOTIV iz NOVE GORICE
Mešani pevski zbor MOTIV iz Nove gorice združujejo pevke in pevci iz Vipavske doline. Posebej se je pripravil kot pevski zbor za obisk Slovencev v Kanadi. Pevski zbor izvaja Slovenske narodne in umetne pesmi. Posebej rad prepeva domoljubne. Poleg tega poje maše in liturgične pesmi. Pevski zbor šteje 24 članov. Sestavljen je iz izkušenih pevcev, ki pojejo že od svoje mladosti. Za obisk pri Slovencih v Kanadi je posebej pripravil mašo, pesmi za petje pri maši in Slovenske ljudske pesmi za koncertno izvedbo.

Most of the participants in this group are coming from Vipava region - Nova Gorica. Their repertoire is extensive and very rich. Group counts 24 members, of which most of them are performing since younger age. It is experienced assembly of talent and performance at the highest level. Kitchen Secrets Cooking Session
Many of you may have already heard that there is a movie being made celebrating Canadian Slovenians across our great country. I have been asked if they could join us to film one or two of our cooking sessions. Of course, the recipe of choice for filming is our famous "Potica".
So, for anyone interested in not only making potica, but participating in this film, please contact me directly.
The date of this cooking session will be Saturday, October 14th, beginning at 9:00 a.m. sharp in the lower hall.
Unfortunately, I only have 1 spot still available so if interested, I will fill this on a first come first serve basis. Please contact me if you are interested in participating.
This film crew is considering coming out to a second session tentatively set for Saturday November 25th, once that is confirmed I will let you all know.

The American politician Adlai Stevenson II was born in 1900 and died in London in 1965. He was an able and intelligent politician, and a gifted speaker. The last four years of his life he spent as US Ambassador to the United Nations. After his death, the writer and broadcaster Alistair Cooke said of Stevenson, "What he left behind was something more splendid, in a public man, than a record of power. It was simply an impression of goodness. He had mastered the art, far more difficult and rarer than that of a successful politician, writer, musician, actor: success as a human being."
When he was a boy of twelve Stevenson had been involved in a tragedy. He accidentally shot dead a sixteen-year-old friend while demonstrating drill technique with a rifle that had been accidentally left loaded. Stevenson was devastated by this

event. Years later, in 1955, he heard of a woman whose son had experienced a similar tragedy. He wrote to her and told her to tell her son that "he must live for two". Here we have an insight into the spiritual force that lifted Stevenson into the ways of justice and goodness that came to mark his life. "We will not lose faith in the United Nations," he said in 1952. "We want it to become what it was intended to be - a world society of nations under law, not merely law backed by force, but law backed by justice and popular consent."
Gospel Teaching
The integrity and the spiritual vision of an Adlai Stevenson are missing in characters portrayed in the Gospel story we read today. Jesus is telling a parable to the chief priests and elders of his time, but it is not just a story. It is the foretelling of the deceitful and murderous intentions of his listeners, who before long will turn to violence in order to rid themselves of this turbulent preacher. The story Jesus tells describes workers in a vineyard who, although they are tenant workers, behave as if they owned the place. When the owner, now abroad, sends servants to collect the produce, these workers are not impressed. It is their land now, they feel. The owner is not here. We do the work. We make the rules. They claim what they feel is theirs by violent action.
The parable will be played out most cruelly when Jesus is arrested, put on trial and sent to his death. Perhaps the elders, listening to the story, did not believe that they would do such a thing and did not recognise themselves in the tale. But the story came true and they did commit a crime of violence. For when people feel threatened by someone else
they quickly resort to arms to defend what they feel is theirs, rightly or wrongly. Any climate of fear breeds repression and we will justify our actions simply because we are afraid.
Application
The teaching of the Lord for us today in a world where fear and favour jostle for advantage is that we persevere in goodness and never let go of it. In the face of the forces gathering against him, Jesus reminds his listeners of the old saying, "It was the stone rejected by the builders that became the keystone." Violence will never win the day. Wrongdoing contains within itself the seed of its own destruction, and the Lord who went to the cross rose that we might live.
St Paul, writing to the Philippi-ans, promotes this way of goodness today. "Fill your minds with everything that is true," he tells us, "everything that can be thought virtuous." "Keep doing all the things that you learnt from me," he says. It is in this way that the God of peace will always be with us. This is no easy commitment and we will need stout hearts to do as Paul urges us.
In our own times the temptation to act like the workers in the vineyard is ever present, to resort to power politics to sort out the world. Let the words of Adlai Stevenson be heard again. He said, "The early years of the United Nations have been difficult ones, but what did we expect? That peace would drift down from the skies like soft snow? That there would be no ordeal, no anguish, no testing, in this greatest of all human undertakings?" Let prayer be our habit so that peace may be our reward.

V	ponedeljek, 2. oktobra 2017, je odšla k Bogu po večno plačilo naša faranka ELIZABETA GERIČ. Pokojna je bila v 84 letu starosti. Od nje ste se lahko poslovili v petek, 6. oktobra, med drugo in četrto in sedmo in deveto uro zvečer. Ob pol štirih popoldne smo molili rožni venec za pokoj njene duše. Pogrebno mašo smo obhajali v soboto, 7. oktobra, ob 10:00h dopoldne v naši cerkvi, nato pa jo pospremili na slovenski del pokopališča Gate of Heaven, kjer počiva ob svojem možu. Iskreno sožalje vsem domačim, pokojna pa naj uživa božji mir in pokoj.
