Ljubite svoje sovražnike ... Delajte dobro tistim ...
Lukov odlomek »Govora na ravnem kraju« nas vodi k besednemu bogoslužju te nedelje. Gre za dolgo in neprekinjeno pesem ljubezni in odpuščanja. Ta ljubezen se usmerja k mejam, ki jih je najteže preiti, k sovražnikom. In to je ravnanje Boga, ki »odpušča vse tvoje krivde in ne ravna z nami po naših grehih«, kakor je rečeno v spevu z odpevom. V Bogu ljubezen premaga pravičnost. Osvojitev te svobode zasije tudi v prvem berilu, v slavni pripovedi o puščavi, v kateri David, čeprav ima v rokah svojega nasprotnika, izbere pot odpuščanja. Velikodušnost Davida-zasledo-valca, nomadskega gverilca in ubežnika, doseže, da še bolj zablesti vrednost njegovega vzora za vsakega Hebrejca: kakor je bil veliki kralj plemenit, tako moraš biti tudi ti poln usmiljenja, kajti »Gospod bo vsakemu povrnil po njegovi pravičnosti in zvestobi«. V povezavi s tem je zelo lepo razmišljanje, ki ga razvija Knjiga modrosti: »Vendar si, Gospod, z vsemi usmiljen, ker moreš vse, ljudem pa grehe odpuščaš zato, da bi se spreobrnili. Kajti ljubiš vse, kar je, nič od tega, kar si naredil, ti ni zoprno ... Ti pa si gospodar moči, zato sodiš milo in nas
vodiš z veliko prizanesljivostjo. S takim ravnanjem si svoje ljudstvo poučil, da mora pravični biti prijatelj ljudi«.
V evangeliju lahko opazimo dve središči, okoli katerih se giblje in razporeja Jezusovo sporočilo. Prvo je povezano z izrekom, podobnim modrostnemu. Gre za skoraj splošno etično »razumsko« načelo: »Kar hočete, da bi ljudje vam storili, storite vi njim«. Toda Jezus razširi to načelo do neskončnih meja, raztegne ga tudi nad sovražnike in ga okrepi z nezaslišano močjo. Samo Luka pridružuje zapovedi »ljubite svoje sovražnike« še: »Delajte dobro tistim, ki vas sovražijo, blagoslavljajte tiste, ki vas preklinjajo«.
Kristjan mora vključiti to željo po dobroti do vseh ljudi, tudi do sovražnikov. Obvezujočo naredi to zapoved, ko jo okrepi še s primeri z »udarcem«, s »plaščem« in s »posojilom«.
Drugo središče pa temelji na drugem, izrazito teološkem izreku: »Bodite usmiljeni, kakor je usmiljen tudi vaš nebeški Oče«. Vzor je sedaj neskončen, to je božja ljubezen. To je tisto posnemanje Boga, prek katerega se spreminjamo v njegove otroke. Vzporedni Matejev izrek se glasi: »Bodite popolni, kakor je popoln vaš nebeški Oče«. Za Luka je ljubezen usklajevalno načelo v kristjano-vem odnosu do Boga. Že leta se fiziki trudijo, da bi zgostili v nekaj jasnih enačb izredno različnost oblik materije, od mrzlih zvezdnih lukenj do praživali, od sladkorjevih kristalov do zvezd in nevtronov. Za brezštevilne oblike krščanskega življenja je povzemajoča enačba tista, ki jo je skoval Luka, povzel Janez, jo poglobila vsa novozavezna teologija in korenini v osrednjem Jezusovem sporočilu: Ljubite, kakor Bog ljubi vas. »Novo zapoved vam dam: da se ljubite med seboj, kakor sem vas jaz ljubil« (Jn 13,34).
lz te ljubezni se rodi nov človek, podoben Adamu, »oživljajoč duh« o katerem govori Pavel v drugem berilu, posvečenem vstajenju kristjana. Odlomek, ki ga danes beremo, je zelo kompleksen in temelji na alegoričnem branju 1 Mz 2-3 in na nauku o »dveh Adamih«, ki ga je zagovarjala judovsko-helenistična teologija. Kristjanovo bivanje ima po apostolu dve fazi: zemeljsko, »živalsko«, naravno, pokvarljivo in duhovno, nebeško, nadnaravno, nepokvarljivo. Mi, ki se rodimo kot zemeljski in grešni Adam, smo poklicani, da postanemo podobni popolnemu Adamu, Kristusu, tako da stopimo z njim v njegovo slavo. Vera in ljubezen prežemata naše umrljivo bistvo in nas napravljata podobne Bogu. Sv. Gregor Niški je zapisal: »Največja stvar, ki ima mesto med Bogom in dušo, je ljubiti in biti ljubljen. lz tega dialoga se rodi popolni Adam.« /Prim. Oznanjevalec 2004/
SLOVENSKI PARK - FAMILY DAY 2019
The Family Day Long Weekend gives families the chance to step back from their hectic schedules to relax together or go on an adventure together with their loved ones.
On Sunday, Feb. 17, many families joined the Slovenski Park family and enjoyed both outdoor and indoor activities. Outdoor in the snow: skating, tobogganing, hiking, fire pit. Indoors: arts and crafts, balinca, music, fireplace. And it was a family affair. Thanks to the Pinter family - Laura, Kathy (Tougher) who worked in the kitchen preparing roast pork, potatoes, salad, kranjske klobase, etc. and Jacob who tended bar. Thanks to the Dubé family - Josie in the kitchen and Dan in the band. Dan, with Nick, are the Music Leafs providing outstanding Canadian songs all afternoon. Thanks to the Škerls - Marianne and Frank - for putting together the fun and memorable scavenger hunt. Sardines figured prominently. And thanks to the Miklavčič family - Mary & Tom - for assisting. Thanks also goes to the Demšar family. Mary Ann & Frances (Scarcelli) for the arts and crafts, and Nicholas (Scarcelli) for set up and to Danny for organization, set up, & execution. Thanks to the many others who helped: Tony Kuzma, Štefka Kanc, Ivan & Maria Kajs, and to all members and friends who helped with clean up. KONCERT DEKLIŠKEGA ZBORA SKOFIJSKE GIMNAZIJE SV. STANISLAVA_
V sredo, 20. februarja 2019, je v anglikanski cerkvi Christ's Church Cathedral v Hamiltonu, na povabilo Hamilton Children's Choir, nastopil Dekliški zbor sv. Stanislava iz Ljubljane. Skupina šteje 40 deklet med 16. in 19. letom starosti, z njimi pa so še spremljevalci.
Na svoji turneji po delu Kanade in Združenih držav, so se najprej zaustavili na Niagara-on-the-Lake, si ogledali Niagarske slapove in znamenitosti okrog, vmes pa se pripravljati tudi za nastop. V sredo zjutraj so se ustavili v naši župniji. V dvorani so imeli vajo. Nancy Taylor-Dundek in Jožica Vegelj sta jima pripravile malo kosila, potem pa so si pogledali še cerkev in odhiteli v cerkev Christ 's Church Cathedral, kjer so imeli skupaj z Hamilton Children's Choir - Ilumini, skupno vajo za večerni koncert.
Koncert se je začel ob pol osmih zvečer. Zaradi napovedi ledenega dežja je bil obisk bolj skromen. So pa zato tisti, ki so se le prišli, imeli kaj slišat in videt ob nastopu obeh zborov. Koncert je začel Hamiltonski zbor pod vodstvom njihove voditeljice Zimfire Poloz, mednarodno priznane zborovske umetnice v oblikovanju mladih glasov. S svojim zborom se vsako leto udeležuje mednarodnih tekmovanj. In na enem od njih sta se spoznale tudi s Heleno Fojkar Zupančič, ki vodi dekliški zbor sv. Stanislava.
Drugi del koncerta je nadaljeval dekliški zbor. Na naslednji strani si lahko pogledate program, ki sta ga zbora izvajala ta večer. Ni bilo samo petje ampak tudi odlična koreografija in interpretacija pesmi v
različnih jezikih. In ko smo občudovali pevske in igralske sposobnosti deklet, se je marsikomu orosilo oko. Izjemno doživetje, še posebej ob skupnem nastopu obeh zborov in zaključni pesmi, »Lejku noč« so pustila dekleta vsem navzočim nepozabno doživetje in izkušnjo, česa vse so mladi sposobni doseči ob dobrih voditeljeljih. Po končanev večeru so otroci hamiltonskega zbora povabili naša dekleta na njihove domove, kjer so prespali.
V četrtek zjutraj pa se je zbor odpravil naprej proti Torontu, kjer so si med dnevom ogledali mesto, zvečer pa so imeli nastop v cerkvi Marije Brezmadež-ne na Brown's Line. V petek pa so že podali naprej proti Clevelandu, kjer so prav tako imeli nastopi v obeh slovenskih cerkvah, pri sv. Vidu in Mariji Vnebovzeti. Od tam pa potem nadaljevali pot do Kansas Cityja, kjer se bodo udeležili mednarodnega tekmovanja.

St Stanislav Girls' Choir Slovenia under Helena Fojkar Zupančič's leadership is one of the five school choirs of The Diocesan Classical Gymnasium (Ljubljana, Slovenia) with 600 students. It comprises 40 girls aged 16 to 19 who can sing in the choir for only three years.
Their repertoire is very versatile - from classical choral music of various periods to vocal pop and Slovene folk songs. Special attention is devoted to commissioning new compositions by contemporary Slovene composers, thus contributing to the creation of high quality choral works for high-ranged voices.
The choir has received numerous awards at national and international competitions. In July 2017 it was the first Slovene choir to successfully perform at 11th WSCM in Barcelona.
The choir has been enthusiastically praised for its subtle interpretation, outstanding repertoire and colorful sonorities. The girls have fascinated us with their vivacious performances, youthful passion, incredible concentration, sound accuracy and stage presence.
Helena Fojkar Zupančič works as a choral conductor and vocal teacher at the Diocesan Classical Gymnasium of St. Stanislav's Institution (Ljubljana, Slovenia). She leads the St. Stanislav Girls' Choir and the St. Nicolas Choir Litija, both of which perform classical choral repertoire. She also leads the 110-member (Re)Mixed Choir of the DCG, which sings gospel, pop and musicals. She was the choirmaster of the Slovenian Children's Choir (2004-2009).
As a guest conductor she performed with the Slovene Radio Chamber Choir (2009-2014) and the Slovenian Philharmonic Choir (2015). She has received several awards at the national and international levels and was awarded the 2016 prize for outstanding achievements in the field of musical education presented by the Republic of Slovenia. She is a sought-after jury member.
As an inspiring leader she has educated numerous generations of enthusiastic singers, who have gone on to decidedly influence the Slovene choral scene.

There is a moment in the story of the passion when Jesus is struck in the face. He has spoken directly to the high priest, and so a servant, thinking his answer cheeky, strikes him hard across the face. Jesus refuses to be cowed. Even though he knows he is going to his death, he does not allow wrongdoing to go unchecked. He turns to the man who struck him and asks the man to justify what he has done. "If there is something wrong in what I said, point it out; but if there is no offence in it, why do you strike me?" You can almost see the servant hang his head in shame. During the entire trial that takes place before the high priest and later before Pilate, Jesus demonstrates to us the love of enemies. He speaks openly and honestly to the high priest when asked questions. Only when people come forward to tell lies does Jesus remain silent. He refuses to honour their lies with any kind

of reply. Before Pilate he speaks as man to man, and when Pilate tries to lord it over him - "Surely you know I have power to release you and I have power to crucify you?" - Jesus reminds Pilate where all true power comes from and how it should be used.
Love of enemies does not involve being cowed by anyone. Love is the great power to deal with every person in an open and honest and noble manner. It does not need to control others. Love is the power of human influence that brings this world to its senses.
Gospel Teaching
When Jesus started out on his preaching career in the years before his trial and suffering, he gave people this strange teaching about love for enemies. It is an amazing and arresting teaching. It stops us in our tracks. It is very appealing, attractive and beguiling even, but is it for real? Can it possibly be done? In little things we find it easy to forgive one another, to forgive those we love, but to be kind to our enemies seems to be beyond our abilities. Why should we be good to those who hate or hurt us?
The answer is because the Lord is asking us to become something very different. We are being
asked to become children of the living God. We cannot presume to be God's children if we do not listen to what the Lord is asking us to do. God is kind to the ungrateful and the wicked. We are being asked to be like this, to be like God. We are not being asked to give in to others or to their wickedness. Remember Jesus and the man who struck him in the face. All wrongdoing must be unmasked, challenged and addressed. It does not do to let wrongdoing go unchecked. The work of justice is vital for us all. But justice is only the beginning of the healing work that is needed.
Application
If someone commits murder, that person must be brought to justice and put in prison; in some countries the murderer may face the death penalty. We may hear people say that they hope the offender will "rot in jail" and then in hell. But the Lord would seek something better than this. The Lord would seek for the sinner to repent and for those who can to help in the work of rehabilitation, of bringing a person back to life.
For loved ones who have been wickedly hurt by the actions of others, the pain of loss can bring on the even worse suffering of unending hatred or deep depression. For example, so many lives are blighted by the loss of loved ones in car crashes. Some of these events are tragic accidents; but others are the result of human carelessness. By ourselves these traumas are too great for us to bear. We need God's grace to help us cope with the evils that are done under the sun. We are not meant simply to let things go. We are to name the wrongs that are done, just as Jesus asked the servant to justify his violent behaviour. In the end Jesus was put on a cross and prayed that people be forgiven because they do not understand the terrible things they do. A soldier listening nearby was moved to utter, "In truth this man was the son of God." Compassion is the power that heals.

Our CWL is busy planning for our ANNUAL BAZAAR scheduled for March 10th. Blue lottery tickets continue to be sold in the church foyer on Sunday. We will also be selling meal tickets. Luncheon tickets are $20 (adult, 11 years and up), and $10 (children 5-10 years); children 4 years of age and under are free. Prepayment by March 3rd is requested and appreciated. Donations of new items to our penny sale, raffle and children's centre are most welcome. The children's centre is in need of toys/board games. Donations can be dropped off in the upper hall on Saturday morning, March 9th. At other times you can give your donation to Father Drago.
