NUSKO-NOVAK NUPTIALS RECALLED

The former Gloria Jean Novak became Mrs. Raymond H. Nuško Jr. in nuptial ceremonies performed Jan. 18 in St. Stephen’s church, Chicago, with the Rev. Christopher Sedlak. O.F.M., officiating.
Gloria Jean is the daughter of Mrs. Albina Novak, executive secretary of the Slovenian Women’s Union of Amer. ica. The Senior Nuskos are neighbors on Cermak Rd.
Directed by Rev. Vendelin Spendov, O.F.M., the church choir sang at the nuptial mass, with soloists, Mrs. Justine Cieblinski and Mrs. Marija Fischinger. Breakfast followed and an evening reception accommodated 400 guests.
Attendants at the ceremony were Joan Hemak, maid of honoi1; Mary Ann Basic, Karen Cerjak, Maria Matkovich and Jackie Nusko, cousin of the groom. Best man was John Szymonik, and ushers, Victor Mladic Jr., Bruce Fox, Richard Rakovec Jr. and Robert Geever, another cousin.
The bride's niece and nephew, Miriam and Luddie Leskovar served as flower girl and ringbearer, and were joined by two other little couples, Karen Nusko, cousin of the groom; Angela Petek, Brian Fox and Thomas Nus-ko, the groom’s younger brother.
Out-of-town guests included the bride’s uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Križman of Cleveland. Mr. Križman escorted his niece down the aisle for the ceremony.
The new Mrs. Nusko is a graduate of St. Ann high, while Raymond Jr. attended Creigier Vocational. After

A FATHER’S THINKING
Sometime ago I read the following letter of a father to his son. You beg me to pray for you. If my prayers were good for anything you would soon be a perfect Christian, who	hoped	for nothing with	more ardor	than
for his eternal	salvation. But remember	my son, that the
father and mother pray in vain for their children if the children do not remember the training their parents gave them. Remember my son, that you are a Christian, and think of all the character makes of obligation for you, all passions it requires you to renounce. For what would it benefit you to acquire the esteem of men if you would jeopardize your soul? It will be the height of my joy to see you	working out your	salvation. I	hope
for it by the	grace	of Our Lord.
The above letter was written by the great French classic dramatist Racine. It is great grace for children to have a father who teaches the divine law with firmness and who moreover lives this divine life, joining personal example to precept.
The above letter reminds me of the spiritual legacy General of the Army Douglas MacArthur left to his son, Arthur — a father's prayer he wrote in the Philippiness during the desperate early days of the Pacific war.
According to the general’s biographer and confident, Maj. Gen. Courtney Whitney, the family repeated this MacArthur credo many times during early morning devotions:
"Behold me, a son, O Lord, who will be strong enough to know when he is weak, and brave enough to face himself when he is afraid, one who will be proud and unbending in honest defeat, and humble and gentle in victory.
Build me a son whose wishes will not take the place of deeds; a son who will know Thee — and to know himself is the foundation stone of knowledge.
Lead him, 1 pray, not in a path of ease and comfort, but under the stress and spur of difficulties and challenge. Here let him learn to stand up in the storm; here let him learn compassion for those who fail.
Build me a son whose heart will be clear, whose goal will be high, a son who will master himself before he seeks to master other men, one who will reach into the future, yet never forget the past.
And after all these things are his, add, I pray, enough of a sense of humor, so that he may always be serious, yet never take himself too seriously. Give him humility, so that he can always remember the simplicity of true greatness, the open mind of true wisdom, and the meekness of true strength.
Then, I, his father, will dare to whisper, ‘I have not lived in vain.”
The prayer is self-explanatory and good indication how a father has to take heart in training of his children as much as a mother does to make children to obtain their goal of life.

Branch 17, of West Allis, Wisconsin, was host to one of our largest tourney’s. 180 Bowlers participated in West Allis over the week-end of March 14 and 15, 1964. Many new names have been on the winning list which consists of some of older bowlers who have been coming to our tourney for well over 20 years.

ANNIVERSARY IS FAMILY REUNION

SAN FRANCISCO CELEBRATES
Mr. and Mrs. Martin Sehukle celebrated a 50tli Anniversary. It was a joyous time for these two wonderful people who were surrounded by their many friends and family. Friends of over 50 years standing were on hand to toast the honored pair. Mr. and Mrs. Klepec and Mrs. Slanec, who themselves recently celebrated a 50th Anniversary, sung loud and clear to honor their dear friends, Frances and Martin Sehukle . Mrs.Schukle’s nephew, Father George Thomas, spoke of the many happy times spent in the company of these fine folks; he said grace and wished the honored pair many happy returns. Cousin, Father Martin Stare, prayed for continued health and happiness for the pair. The table was decorated in golden llowers and lighted candles of gold. Daughter, Frances, was responsible for the lovely favors, she supervised the table settings for the one hundred guests and relatives. Son.Joseph, toasted Mom and Dud and payed a lovely compliment saying he knew the 50 years spent together have been good years for both parents. Happiness reigned supreme and every one had a wonderful time.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sustarich celebrated a 25th Anniversary. A surprise party given by their twin daughters, Moreen and Doreen. The entire wedding party was present to honor these two swell foks. It was my pleasure to have been one of the wedding party for my cousin, Helen. Helen was presented a lovely white orchid and looked like a bride all over again. All the relatives and friends sang Happy Anniversary songs to the honored pair. My beloved Teta Kate was smiling and so pleased to share her daughter Helen’s happiness. My Teta is the dearest person and its no surprise to anyone that she is a real part of this family. Many lovely gifts of silver were given to Helen and Frank to remind them of their 25 happy and eventful years. Branch 13 extends its most happy congratulations to Mr. and Mrs Martin Schu-kle and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sustarich. May God be good to you one and all and bless you with good health and happiness. No. 16, So. Chicago, III. This month we would like to introduce you to one of the most outstanding families in South Chicago — the Prebil Family who are namely, Anthony and Marge Prebil and children, Sister M. Margarita, O.S.F., Kathleen, Anthony, Jr. and Rose Marie. Marge graduated from St. Stephen’s Grammar School in Chicago in 1932. Tony is a former resident of Chisholm, Minn., and is presently employed by the Kraml Dairy Co. The Prebil family resided on the West Side of Chicago for 15 years and in 1953 moved to South Chicago.
Sister M. Margarita, O.S.F. is a member of the Community of Mary Immaculate, Joliet, 111. and is presently a Mathematic teacher at the St. Francis Academy in Joliet. She is a graduate of St. Francis de Sales High School and St. Francis College, Joliet, 111. Kathleen is employed at the American Surety Company and is a part-time student at DePaul U-niversity. She is also a graduate of St. Francis de Sales High School. Anthony is attending Quigley Preparatory and is a second year student.
ACTIVITIES
No. 2,Chicago, III.— We’re finally celebratin’! And what’s the occasion? Why it’s a belated Mother’s Day party for all our members and especially, our Mother of the Year, Mrs. Jennie Puhek, who’ll be there with all of us enjoying herself.
We will also have members of our Br. 2 Sports Club as guests of the party, too. They worked so hard for our convention dinner; so, this is a special treat for them. June 11th the date!

Tony’s spart time is spent in the wrestling field where he has already achieved two trophies and he is also a member of the school basketball team. Rose Marie is a 5th grade student at St. Francis de Sales Grammar School and an honor student. She is also a Girl Scout at the home parish. The Prebil family are active members of the St. Francis de Sales parish in South Chicago.
Marge and Tony were pleasantly surprised on their 25th Wedding Anniversary by a large group of relatives and friends gathered at their home for this happy occasion and arranged by the Prebil children. The above picture was taken when the family was all-together for this occasion which was celebrated on October 8, 1963. Marge and Tony were married in October of 1938 at St. Stephen’s Church by the late Rev. Alexander Urankar, O.F.M.
We extend our sincerest wishes that Marge and Tony will be blessed with many, many more happy anniversaries and that their children will attain the goals in life that they are aiming for.	Gladys K. Buck

All our members join together and wish her many more years of happiness and health. In the past few months she was compelled to undergo another serious operation and we were glad to hear that she has recovered. We hope that from now on she will be healthy and that she may achieve the many goals she is striving for. At the conclusion of our 1963-1964 bowling season which ended on May 4, Bluth Sausage (our new sponsor for this season has taken first place honors. Congratulations to the five bowlers, Lil Anderson, Marilyn Nemanich, Gert Padovich, Agnes Verbiscer, and our president and captain Helen Golobic, also to Bernie and Mary Lou Bluth who are the wonderful sponsors of the winning team. More details of awards will follow in the next issue as our banquet was held on May 11, at which time a meeting and election of officers took place.

On April 20, five girls were very surprised to> hear an announcement made by Josephine Sumic in regard to the Midwest S.W.U. Bowling Tournament, they were Ann Sternisha, Agnes Lovati, Marge Wajchert, Gen Klainsek and Mary Rudman, Captain of Merichka’s Restaurant Team who came in first place in the Midwest Tournament. ANNA KOREVEC
Our member Anna Korevec passed away May 5th at the age of 60 years. She was an unselfish worker for the branch and considered one of her greatest honors being chosen as Mother of the Year in 1960. The a-bove photo was taken at that time.
She will never be forgotten among her numerous friends and the members of Br.20. To her husband, Lewis and family, our deepest condolences. May she receive her reward in heaven.

this is not readily performed by any one; it takes time and much research. She is writing the history for various institutions. May we all step together and wish her many more years. As the proverb says ‘‘give her flowers now while she is living not when she is dead.” How true this is in many cases. If we follow the work of our officers, friends and other hard workers — who pass away into eternity without warning us farwell — we must cherish those who we still have among us. The most important one, Mrs Prisland—who has striven for years unselfishly for the benefit of our Slovenian women and nation. God Bless you Mrs. Prisland for many more years!
Mrs. Millie Pucel underwent an o-peration in the hospital and is convalescing at home at present. Mrs. Anna Lenovich, Mrs. Frances Papesh and Mrs. Justine Kozlerick were also in the hospital, while Mrs. Frances Horvat and Mrs. Anna Jerman are at the Pleasant Center Nursing home, and Mrs. Jean Tezak is convalescing at home. There are several other members also in the nursing homes for whom we are unaware. Please
notify the secretary, Frances Gaspich on all such occasions.
At our last meeting the secretary read a thank you note from the parish pastor of Dolenjske Toplice. Slovenia for masses sent to be offered for the repose of the soul of our organizer of Br. 20, Mrs. Barbara Kramer, At the same time a letter of thanks from her daughter, Mary Wheeler, was read and also the explanation of her long illness.
At our meeting, discussion for our family picnic—to be held at Mrs. Kunstek’s resort took place. It should be some time in June. You will note the date in the Herald—News..

No. 23, Ely Minn. Dawn Club Final plans for the May Banquet were made for Wednesday, May 13th, at the “Maid-Rite”. Cocktails were at G p. m. and Dinner at 6:30.
Each member was contacted by her calling committee, so we hoped to have a 100% attendance. This was the last get together until August.
Delegates to the Convention this year were Barbara Rosandich, State President of Minnesota and Katherine Slogar from branch 23, with Mary Shi-konja as alternate.

No. 32, Euclid, Ohio. — The month of May was dedicated to our Blessed Mother in heaven and, we keep in mind all mothers' on earth. After our meeting of May 5th, we had a party in their honor and all birthdays up until now were celebrated.
Words cannot express the sorrow of Annie Chinchar, who was present at the tragic accident of her mother, Anne Burjek who met death while window shopping on 185th st. As mother and daughter had plans to visit their native land of Czechoslovakia this year, it was a terrible shock. You never know when or where death is waiting for us. From our branch, we express our sorrow to Annie and her sister and brother. May she rest in peace.
Plans are being made for our 35th Anniversary dinner, Sept. 20th. Please come to the meetings. Also, we wish you to bear in mind that since we don’t have a meeting in July and August, two tickets will be mailed to each member and we ask each member to buy at least one ticket.
With the annual bazaar of the combined branches this fall on Oct. 10th and 11th at Recher Hall, our branch will have a booth and we hope all who can crochet, will get busy because time flies and before we know, summer will be here and gone.

After the meeting we had our party and we sang Happy Birthday to all our good members. In the future we will have more good times as our sisters were very good in giving and building up our fund.

No. 34, Soudan, Minn. Our first meeting following Easter was held at the Catholic Men’s clubrooms on Wednesday evening April 15th with Mrs. John Pahula presiding.
It was announced to all present that we had chosen Mrs. Louis Chia-botti (of Tower) as “Mother of the Year” for Branch No. 34 at our last meeting held the day before Lent.
It was also announced that Mrs. Mary Pahula was informed she has been chosen delegate to the National Convention representing our Branch and 2 others. Mrs. William Vollen-dorf was chosen alternate.
During the social hour, cards were played and prizes awarded to Mines. Joseph Gornick, Dominick Tekautz, John Pahula and Herman Mesojedec. The attendance prize was awarded to Mrs. Louis Zupanich.
Mrs. Tony Planton and Mrs. Zupanich were hostesses for the evening, and served a tasty luncheon to conclude the evening’s activities.
The next meeting had been set for May 28 and at this time Mrs. Pahula gave a report on the proceedings of the National Convention. Hostesses for the meeting in May were Mmes. Joseph Skala and Joseph Gornick.
We hope all members and delegates assembled and the Supreme Officers had a happy time at the Convention, and pray God to bless them and their efforts in behalf of the Union.

No. 43, Milwaukee, Wis. No meeting was held on April 12, due to our branch having their card party. Due to our members and their friends it turned out to be a great success. The committee wished to extend a “thank you” to anyone participating, whether by attending, donating prizes or money, food or helping in any way.
IN LOVING MEMORY
Mrs. Mary Kocjan of Calumet, Mich., and a member of Branch 28, passed away on April 4th. Mrs. Kocjan long had suffered a heart ailment and death was due to a heart attack.
She was born in Austria and caine to this country 65 years ago. She was also one of the Supreme Vice Presidents, having been elected to that office when the National Convention was held in Chisholm, Minn, in 1938.
She was one of our most active members and will be sadly missed at our meetings as she attended very regularly.
She was chosen “Mother of the Year" in 1956 for her outstanding work and generosity toward the many projects our branch sponsored.
Mrs. Kocjan is sadly missed by her family, daughters Anne Heineman, Mayme Dudich, Katherine Toth and Margaret Banovetz and son, John and
8	grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord and may the perpetual light shine upon her. M'ay she rest in Peace.

A meeting was held at 10:00 a. m. on Sunday, April 26th, at the home of Vickie Sporis. Convention details were discussed and brought to a finish. Those who attended wish to thank Vickie for the cake and coffee which she served after the meeting.
On Sunday, June 14th at 1:30 p. m. there will be a meeting and also initiation of all new members. It will be held at St, John’s Hall at 1028 So. 9th St. which is our regular meeting place every second Sunday of the month. Let’s have a good representation and welcome our new sister members into our branch. Also, our delegate, Josephine Kolar, will be able to inform us, on the National Convention.
No meetings will be held in July or August. Many members plan trips and outings. To each and all a pleasant and safe vacation.
Sunday, September 13, meetings
will again resume. Discussions on fall activities will take place, and any new ideas will be greatly appreciated.
Congratulations and best wishes are in order for all communicants receiving in May or June. May the dear Lord whom you received on your First Holy Communion Day, keep you ill His loving care and guide you thru a happy way.
To all June graduates, accept our branches best wishes, and let me say too, ‘‘We’re happy indeed to congratulate you.”
To our shut-ins, be they hospitalized or convalescing at home, a cheerful, sunny, little wish, a pleasant thought or two, a happy hope, it won't be long, before your’re as good as new. Inform Vickie Sporis or yours truly, on any members who are ill, so that a get well card will be sent, and this can only be done thru your co-operation. If you are in the neighborhood of a sick member, pay them a visit, I’m sure they will welcome it.
Last and most important is not to forget your dues. Please check your dues books, at your earliest convenience.

No. 45, Portland, Ore. April 14th meeting was held at the home of Florence Lolich. It was very definite that our Palm Sunday breakfast was a success with 30 or more members and guests attending. Several of our members were ill otherwise the number would have been even larger. It was a beautiful sunny day and the ladies were truly resplendent in their new spring bonnets.
Discussion was made that we are planning a dance in the Fall. This is to be the first dance that our local has had for a good many years and we want it to be a big success. This can be made possible very easily. We have many friends that will be attending and as I know that each and every member will do her best to sell tickets to make it a gala affair. Date and place will be announced later.
A note of thanks from our presi-den Mary Roso who is up and about now. She was very happy to receive the many cards of remembrance from her friends.
Also a word of cheer to several of our members who are on the sick list. With Spring days ahead of us may all of those who have been under the weather respond quickly to better health.
The second Tuesday in May was the regular meeting night. It was the last one till September. It was a good time to get caught up on back dues so that the secretary could bring her books up to date and members will not have to worry about being behind. Also at this meeting we were entertained with movies by our host-
ess on her husband’s and son’s trip to Jugoslavia last Fall. This was very enjoyable and of interest to all.
So for now, yours truly closes with a wish to see all members at the Sept. meeting. A happy and gay summer to one and all.

No. 50, Cleveland, O. — Our April meeting opened with smiles in spite of our disappointment, coming in second in the Campaign. Just as spring came in and bad weather behind, this is the way we also experience life. But, oh! What a large attendance and a large number of new members for initiation! We hope they will enjoy being part of us and come regularly to the meetings and make good acquaintances.
Minutes were nicely read by Ann Dekleva. Our ladies of Branch 50 were so great, they agreed to help pay our drill team transportation to Chicago for the opening of the convention and program on May 17th. They will represent our Branch 50 and besides, our drill team have their own expense and have devoted a lot of time and effort to make it posible. It was nice for our members to realize all of that. Our drill team is very grateful and I’m sure each and every one of them will really work hard and do their part when they are needed.
Our president Beatrice Tome is working hard for our baazar in October. When our elephant sale is over, our ladies will concentrate on that too. So far it has been one project after another and we are working to make each one worth while, even though we make a “boo boo” somtimes. Anyway, this is the way our ladies keep busy and usually they do succeed. Our President is a wonderful person and I am sure we will all adjust to each other’s ideas.
Our deepest sympathy to Mary Cesnik who lost her father-in-law, John Cesnik. May he rest in peace.
Our get well wishes to Cecilia Znidarsic’s husband; hope he will soon be O. K. Same goes to Mamie Marin’s husband.
We sure got many new members for now, 58 is a lot for once. It so happens that when you approach people, they say, I will join later. Then you keep after them over and over and it isn’t easy to get really true new members, then at the last minute they give in. That’s what makes things difficult. But our Rose Želodec, our campaign girl worked so hard and really did get many new members. Our members all worked for her and all wished she would be our Queen, but since she lost she has been selected the 1st princess.
We had a nice luncheon, a pot-luck, and also had a prize given and Frances Somrak was the lucky one. The prize was donated by our lovely girls, the Bencin Sisters, Josephine and Mit-

Dear Members,
The Slovenian Women’s Union is a very large tree — with its roots deep in the heart of Chicago and the branches spreading out to the different parts of the United States of America.
In these branches we have 12,000 sister members and juveniles which I love very dearly.
From the eastern branch No. 25, Cleveland, tip-toed a lovely Convention Queen, Vicki Faletič and close behind came Princess Rose Želodec of Br. 50.. From the northern branch at Duluth, Minn. (33) hailed Princess Ann Podgoršek and from a branch close to the root, which is Br. 43, Milwaukee, Wis., came a-running, Princess Rose Kraemer.
Congratulations Queen Vicki, Princesses Rose, Ann and Rose! My sin-cerest wishes that we all keep watering and feeding this tree, The Slovenian Women’s Union of America. May she keep growing massive and her branches larger and stronger.
Vacation time is here and during my absence in July and August, our Vice-President, Marie Floryan, has offered her services to keep up my articles.
Our Pre-Convention Campaign has been very successful with 373 new members enrolled. Zarja had all the winners in the May issue. I wish to thank all the winners and those who participated in the campaign for the fine work which brought such grand results. To the new members, we extend wishes for a happy membership with us!

We also had a big surprise, a very long absent member, our former Urna Neška! Once upon a time she was loads of fun on stage and a very active member! None other than Josephine Seelye! She lives so far a-way from our meeting place now that it has been impossible for her to attend and also she's had a lot of illness; but we have always missed her.
I	hope she will try and give us
many happy surprises again such as in the years back. She is a lovely person.
Congratulations to Louise Križman, her second time grandma! Good luck to the new mother, father and baby girl! We hope that Louise is enjoying her new home and lots of luck to her!
We also hope Theresa Naro’s father has a speedy recovery and also, wishes to many of our members for good health. I guess we need some good old sunshine, how about it?
A special notice to the juniors of the S.W.U. in the Cleveland area! Anyone who wishes to join the Jr. Drill Team may do so by getting in touch with Ernestine Jevec. Her telephone number is HE 1-5572. She is a lovely person and will be glad to have you or you can go right to the St. Clair Recreation Center, G250 St. Clair Ave., on Saturdays at 1:30 p.m.
Our member Theresa Komat who also worked for the other campaign is also a wonderful person, we won’t forget Theresa either. There is always a time and place to show our appreciation. We want to make everybody happy, and that’s our motive and we aim it to be that way.

No. 55, Girard, O. — The April meeting was opened with a prayer led by President, Mrs. Barbara Umeck; it was wonderful. She urged all to attend, the Card Party. The Card Party date arrived and we are very happy to report it was a great success. All who attended had a lovely evening; prizes galore, and also a fine increase in the treasury. We were also looking forward to the Mother-Daughter Banquet May 14th, at the Slovenian Home. Mrs. Matilda Cigolle was our honored Mother of the year.
Sorry to report two of our members were hospitalized in April. They are Mrs. Amelia Robsel, and Mrs. Emma Zore. Best wishes for a speedy recovery was sent to them.
Our deepest sympathy was sent to Mrs. Jerome Alshuk for the loss of her beloved husband who passed a-way in April.
After the business meeting, social hour was enjoyed. Mrs. Barbara U-meck and Mrs. Josephine Perusek served dessert and coffee. Gaines were Played with prizes going to Mrs. Barbara Umeck and Mrs. Anna Krivak. There will be no meetings during the summer months, I will be here to accept dues. Please don’t fall behind.
REMEMBERED WITH LOVE
No. 67, Bessemer, Pa. We have lost one of our dearest and oldest members. Yena Stanish went to rest March 10, 1964, at the age of 83. She had an illness for four years.
She was born in Austria Sept. 16, 1880. She married the late John Sta-nisli in 1898 and they came to the United States in 1904. Mr. Stanish passed away in 1954. Their son, Joseph, Postmaster of Bessemer, passed away New Years Day 19G4. Mrs. Stanish never got over the shock of his death.
Mrs. Stanish was a member of the St. Anthony Church Ladies Altar Society and the Zarja Society.
She is survived by three sons John, Frank and Charles of Pittsburgh and two daughters, Katherine Susany of Bessemer with whom she made her home, and Mrs. Rose Capeszuti of Butler, Pa., 14 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
She was one of the last of the old pioneer Croatian families in Bessemer. We all express sincere condolences to the family. May she find peace and rest.	Mary Percic, Reporter

No. 56, Hibbing, Minn. Our monthly meeting was held April 14 at the Assumption Hall club rooms.
During our business meeting we discussed plans for a trip to Lemont this summer. As a wonderful time was held before when we went there, we hope many ladies from our branch and others will join us this year. Departure date from Hibbing will be July 17.
Our sympathy is extended to the family of Mrs. Tessie Kirsling one of our members who passed away suddenly while on a visit to her son. We also wish to extend our sympathy to Mrs. Ann Brklich and family who lost their husband and father this month. May both their souls rest in peace.
We are sorry to report that Mrs. Mary Adams is in the hospital and by now we hope she is well on her way to recovery. Lunch was served by Mrs. Theresa Hattam and Mrs. Rose Vukich and prizes in games a-warded to Ann Satovich, Frances Stanich, Ann Mainerich, Liz Gaige, Margaret Skorich and Mary Meadows.

No. 66, Canon City, Colo.— Hello, from the Rockies! Not much to report but we are hoping all those on the sick list may be able to be outdoors and enjoy the sunshine after the long winter months.
Frances Kosek is better after a stay in the hospital; Hanah Adamic is also better, after a hospital stay.
Also hoping that all of you going on vacations to be very careful and get back hotne safe and in one piece.

No. 72, Pullman, III. Here I am, back at my old job of reporting — but it will be only for this one month — as Margaret Vrhovnik, our reporter, is in the hospital. She has had surgery. Our very best wishes to you, Margaret, for a complete and fast recovery.
Our first meeting after the winter months was held in April. It was well-attended, and we were especially happy to see Mrs. Zadnik, as she has not been well during the past many months. Two other of our sick members — Mrs. Sheehy and Mrs. Dolinar — are improving, and we hope to see them at our meetings soon.
We wish to extend our deepest sympathy to the family of our dear member, Mrs. Kopach, who passed away a few weeks ago. Mrs. Kopach has been a member of long standing of this branch and we shall miss her sorely. May her soul rest in peace!
After the meeting we really had a lovely get-together. Several members had birthdays and they all brought such delicious refreshments. Mrs. Nemanich was unable to come
—	because of her husband’s illness — but she sent a beautiful decorated cake. Thank you from all of us. I wish I could mention all the other “birthday” ladies one by one — but
I	am afraid I might overlook one and I certainly wouldn’t want to slight any one — so I will say to all the “birthday” ladies — “thank you for such delicious refreshments, and best wishes for many more happy birthdays.”

Twenty-eight years ago Branch 73 was started—that was 1936. Now we have 114 adults and 60 children. At our last meeting L. Epley told the story of our beginning and we honored our past presidents. It was a lovely story and ceremony.

No. 95 So. Chicago, III. Spring traditionally heralds the arrival of summer and stirs thoughts of the fun-filled summer ahead, as activities begin to move outdoors, provide relaxation and pleasure, their hours of temptation too. Summer-tme is a dangerous time, especially for the young ones. You have a tremendous responsibility towards your family during the vacation season. Carry it conscientiously. It will save you many a head-ache, many a heart-ache!
The first topic for discussion is the 25th Anniversary of our branch which calls for a celebration of a special order. It will be held on Wednesday October 14th. at 6 p. m. in the Jovial Club, 9615 Commercial Ave. Tickets will be $4. Ann Pearson bravely accepted the assignment of chairlady and Amelia Cuzella and Mary Nicksic as Co-cliairladies. They promise a stimulating and enjoyable evening, let’s all start making plans to attend. After the meeting was adjourned, there is nothing like a lift you get, or the zip you feel when you partake in the goodies prepared by the following: Mary Jurko, Ann Pearson Viola Spitz, Ann Pave, Helen Golich, Barbara Sambol, Mary Nicksic and Marge Innis.

nice turnout at our March meeting, opening with a prayer, as always.
Fulvia Rosa attended the meeting looking very well and happy after spending a month in Minnesota. I know she enjoyed her stay, because she talked very enthusiastically about friends she had seen and talked with. She had lost a considerable amount of weight, to our amazement, and
I	speak truthfully when I say that she looks very well.
Prizes were donated by Rose, our hostess, and again by Alice Kocjan. Ann Anzick and Alice Becker won the prizes and our donations were contributed to our grownig fund.
A delicious lunch was prepared by our hostess, and a cake was baked by Pauline Adamic for Alice Kocjan’s Birthday. I am sure that a pleasant afternoon was had by all of us who were present. Mrs. Mary Musich, Catherine’s mother who has been visiting with her these past couple of months, has had a heart attack. Catherine was just about to drive her back to Wyoming, due to climatic conditions here in Detroit, when the attack occured. We sincerely hope and pray that at this writing, she is feeling much better, and can return to her home where she had been enjoying better health. This is my last article until we resume meetings in September. I truly hope that you all have an enjoyable, and safe summer. God bless you all.

THE WEDDING RECEPTION
Invitations sent; beautiful bride; happy groom; wedding bells; bright day; delighted relatives and friends —they’re all here!—and so is the reception. The quickest way is to serve only punch and sandwiches or coffee with the cake. This is fine for a crowd and is suitable for any time but the meal hour. 2	fowls — 5% to 6 pounds each
1 cup chicken fat or butter 1*4 cups flour
2 V2 quarts chicken stock iy2 cups light cream
Vz pound boiled ham, slivered Salt and pepper to taste
Place the two cleaned and washed fowls in a large kettle (12 quart). Add enough water to just cover plus
2	teaspoons of salt, an onion, and a few sprigs of parsley for seasoning. Cover and simmer over low heat 3% hours or until chickens are tender. Let chicken cool, breast down in stock. Place in refrigerator to keep overnight.
Day before Wedding:
Skim off fat from stock and take out chickens.
Remove skin and bones; cut meat in bite size pieces.
Heat fat in large kettle to make gravy with chicken stock. Add flour and stir until well blended and bubbly.
Remove from heat and slowly stir in chicken stock.
Return to heat and cook slowly, stirring constantly until mixture thickens; add cream. (For less lab-orate occasions you can omit the cream if you prefer; increase chicken stock to 3 quarts using milk if not enough stock. 2 cans of mushrooms can also be added, if desired.
Cool. Store in refrigerator.
Just before Reception:
Reheat. Stir in chicken and ham, saving a little ham to sprinkle on top, and season with salt and pepper to taste.
Keep over low heat or place over hot water until ready to serve.
Serve in heated sweetheart patties. Makes 25 servings.
Sweetheart Patties
If you have time, these patties are easy to prepare otherwise most bakeries will bake pastry shells for you. Your patties, too, can be partly done before the big day. Two days before the wedding, make up three times the standard 2 cups of flour recipe for pastry, or use three packages of pie crust mix. Keep in bowl covered with wax paper, in refrigerator, until ready to use. This makes 25 patties.
The day before, roll out dough % nicli thick and cut out into hearts. Cut remainnig dough into strips % inch wide. Moisten rim of pastry heart and lay the strips on the rim like a ruching. Chill thoroughly. Prick with a fork in several places. Bake in a hot oven until lightly browned. Cool.
On the day of the wedding, heat just before serving. (If you wish to serve this recipe for family occasions or church suppers and want to eliminate the pastry shells then bread stuffing can be deliciously substituted.)
BREAD STUFFING
y3 cup chicken fat IV2 cups diced onion IV2 cups or all of chicken skin, finely ground.
2	to 3 cups diced celery In frying pan, cook about 10 minutes. Pour this over 1 loaf cubed stale bread and mix with:
1 tablespoon ground sage
2 teaspoons salt
% teaspoon pepper.
Put mixture into large casserole or baking pan. Cover with diced chciken and pour gravy over that. If desired top with crushed potato chips. Bake 350 degrees for 1 hour.

In June, another important event is honored: FATHER’S DAY. To serve something typically Slovenian, plan to serve “Pohanje.” Mrs. Anna Pachak, of Branch 3, Pueblo, Colo., has kindly offered her fine recipe:
POHANJE
3 cups sifted flour
3	whole eggs
Vs cup butter or 1 stick 1 teaspoon baking powder 1 teaspoon salt V> cup sugar % cup milk
Beat eggs, work butter in the flour with a knife like for pie. Add baking powder, salt, sugar, beaten eggs and milk. Make a soft dough. Rest it
for one hour. Roll it out *4 inch thick. Cut it in about 3 inch squares; make a few slits in the center with a knife. Pry until golden brown on both sides in deep hot oil or shortening. When still warm sprinkle with powdered sugar after having drained the “pohanje” on paper. Serve.

STRAWBERRY CAKE
1 package white cake mix. (Add flour for high altitude as directed on box). % cup salad oil y2 package frozen strawberries (thawed)
1 package strawberry jello
4	eggs
V2 cup cold water
Combine all ingredients and beat mixture until smooth (about 4 min.). Bake in greased and floured 9x13x2 inches loaf pan 350 degrees for 45 minutes. If using glass dish reduce to 325 degrees.
(Fresh strawberries can also be used. Add about two teaspoons sugar to a pint of strawberries thinly sliced or crushed. Use 1/2 of the a-mount. The cake is delicious and “well worth making.”)—Editor H. D.
Icing
1 package powdered sugar y± pound butter (softened)
1/i package frozen strawberries (or y2 of the fresh strawberries mentioned above).
Combine ingredients, beat with mixer until light and fluffy. Spread on cold cake. (Cake gets better the longer it sets.)
Holes in Potica?
The question was asked from Forest City, “How can I avoid big spaces or holes when rolling up potica?”
The experts tell me that the dough should be pricked here and there with a fork as the potica is rolled to allow air to escape. It should also be rolled tightly and patted before putting it in to the pans.
It does help to cut the loaves with the egde of a plater rather than a knife to better seal the ends.

Statistika pove, da se je v Ameriki razporočila ena tretjina zakoncev, poročenih v zadnjih petih letih. Kaj je vzrok tako številnim razporokam v tako kratkom času? Morda poroka v naglici, ko zakonca drug drugega nista dovolj spoznala. S spoznanjem pride — razočaranje. Naša mladina je mehko vzgojena. Potrpljenja ni vajena. Vse mora iti gladko in brezhibno; vse morajo imeti, kar jim srce poželi. V zakonu tega ni. Treba je potrpeti; s potrpljenjem pride razočaranje.
So seveda izjeme. Imamo žene, ki so prave mučenice. Naj še tako skušajo možu ustreči, nimajo uspeha. Ničesar mu ni prav. V takem zakonu je edin pogoj po-trplenje. Čeprav je težko potrpeti, je vseeno boljše kot razporoka.
Razporoka. — Dom razbit in uničen. Na razvalinah življenja dva strta srca, ki nista znala prenašati drug drugega križev in težav. Če je tak dom obdarovan z otroci, je nesreča tem hujša. Otroci, ki bi morali spoštovati očeta in mater, ne vedo kaj početi. Mati obrekuje očeta, oče zmerja mater. Katerega se naj otroci držijo, komu zaupajo . . . ?
Žena, ki se zaveda svojega materinskega poklica, bo stokrat premislila predno bo vložila tožbo za razporoko. Žena, čeprav ločena, je vseeno do smrti navezana na človeka, ki je bil njen mož; ta vez so otroci. Radi teh naj žena-mati potrpi. Radi nedolžnih bitij, katerim je dala življenje, naj vstraja, naj se žrtvuje. Otroci imajo dobre oči. Videli bodo materine žrtve ter jih upoštevali, ko dorastejo. Spoštovali bodo svojo mater ter ji bili hvaležni, da jim je ohranila družinsko ime čisto, vedoč, da je to storila z velikimi žrtvami.

Kako lahko mož ženi zabrusi: “Kaj delaš, Mary, da večerja še ni gotova? — Meso je trdo! — Ali moramo vedno jesti ene vrste solato? —Kje je moja srajca?—Gumb majnka! — Otrok prav ne učiš! Ali ne moreš tega sama opraviti?” — in tako dalje in tako naprej.
Zelo težko se pa	mož pripravi, da	bi	rekel: “Maty,	kako dobro kosilo si	danes pripravila!	—	Tale kejk	mi	po-
sebno ugaja! — Dobra kuharica si! — Prav ljubko si danes napravljena! — Še vedno te imam rad tako kot prvi dan! — Jaz in otroci smo srečni, da te imamo! . . .”
Koliko manj razdrtih zakonov, koliko manj strtih src bi na tem svetli bilo, koliko več ljubezni v družini, če bi mogli povedati več lepšega. Lepa beseda nič ne stane in vendar jo	niti zlato ne odvaga.

Vsak oče in mati se trudita svojim otrokom pripraviti boljše življenja kot ga imata sama. Vendar je vsakemu fantu vzor njegov oče in je vsaki deklici njena mati na-jidejalnejše bitje.
Nek skrben oče je delal noč in dan da bi sinčku omogočil sijajno lcarijero lcakoršna njemu ni bila naklonjena. Delal je načrte kaj vse mora njegov sinko postati, ko do-raste. Nek večer mu je razlagal svoje namene in ga vprašal:
“Kaj bi rad postal, Johnie, ko odrasteš? Ali velik pisatelj, mogočen bankir, slaven znanstvenik, morda škof ali celo predsednik Amerike?” Sinko se svojega očeta trdno oklene in toplo dahne: “Postati hočem samo to, kar si ti, ljubi očka . .

Imamo prijatelje, katerim naše šege in navade ne ugajajo popolnoma. Dobrohotno nas hočejo spreobrniti in po njih misli izboljšati.
Ker imamo napake vsi, moramo biti tolerantni ter tu in tam zatisniti eno oko in prezreti, kar na svojih bliž-
njih ne odobravamo. Veliko lepše in bolj zadovoljno nam bo poteklo življenje, če nas ne bo vznemirjalo kakšna je naša soseda,, svakinja ali prijateljica. Prizanesimo s svojimi zahtevami po izboljšanju tistim, katere ljubimo. Vsak človek je osebnost zase, ki je ustvarjen nekoliko drugače kot mi. Nihče ne more živeti po tujih vzorcih, ker pač nismo vsi enaki. In kako prav je tako! Pomislite, kako pusto, enolično in dolgočasno bi na svetu bilo če bi vsi enako mislili, delali in se oblačili. Na svetu bi ne bilo ne grešnikov, ne svetnikov, ker bi bili vsi enako dobri. Toraj vidite, da je popolnoma prav, da nas je nekaj takih, ki imamo napake in pomanjklivosti.

Ko se je francoski vojskovodja Napoleon Bonaparte u-mikal pred Rusi, je na begu dospel v malo obmejno vasico, potrkal in tudi takoj vstopil v prvo hišo ter prosil gospodarja naj ga skrije pred sovražnikom. Ruski muzik, krojač po poklicu, tujca ni poznal, a ker se mu je zasmilil in ker je slišal ropot prihajajočih vojakov, je tujca hitro potisnil pod svojo posteljo. Takoj nato so v sobo vdrli ruski vojaki in pričeli z preiskavo. Njih poveljnik je pričel z bajonetom prebadati posteljo ter Napoleona zadel v roko in mu razparal rokav.
Ko so Rusi odšli in je francoski cesar prilezel izpod postelje, se je krojaču lepo zahvalil in mu povedal kdo je. — “Krojač,” pravi Napoleon, “danes si rešil življenje francoskemu vladarju. Hvaležen sem ti! Vprašaj za tri stvari, ki bi jih rad, da se ti izpolnijo. Ko dospejo moje čete, bodo tvoje želje uslišane.”
Tisto popoldne so dospele francoske čete v vasico in jo zasedle. Napoleon je dal poklicati krojača, da mu izpolni njegove želje. Krojač je bil pripravljen.
“Že dve leti mi streha toči in ne morem je popraviti, ker nimam denarja za materijal,” je bila prva želja ruskega krojača.
“To je majhna povrnitev, ki jo zahtevaš od velikega poveljnika. Takoj bo tvoja hiša dobila novo streho,” pravi Napoleon. “Kakšna je tvoja druga želja?”
“Motke, krojač iz bljižne vasi, se hoče sem priseliti in ne bo dovolj dela za oba ...”
“Motke bo ostal v svoji vasi!” ga prekine Napoleon. “Kaj je tvoja tretja želja?”
Mužik se nekoliko obotavlja, končno pa vendar zine: “Vso svoje življenje sem bil radoveden ali imajo kralji in cesarji iste občutke kot mi navadni ljudje. Ko je vojak z bajonetom prebadal mojo posteljo pod katero ste bili skriti, kako ste se takrat počutili? To bi želel vedeti.”
“Predrzneš! Ti plačuješ mojo dobroto z nehvaležnostjo! Za to predrznost boš jutri ustreljen!” rentači Napoleon.
Ob zori je bil krojač privezan k drevesu in sltvadron vojakov je imel naperjene muškete na njegovo glavo. Čakali so povelja, da ustrele. Poročnik je vzel v roke uro in pričel šteti:
“Ena ...”
Mušketi so se naravnali.
“Dve ...”
Vojaki so napeli peteline.
Predno je	poročnik	mogel	reči tri, je prihitel Napo-
leonov poslanec ter zaklical vojakom naj odložijo orožje.
“Cesar vas prosi odpuščenja in želi, da berete njegovo pismo,” pravi poslanec od strahu napol mrtvemu Rusu.
Dragi krojač: “je stalo v pismu. “Zdaj znaš kako sem se jaz počutil pod tvojo posteljo.”

V	knjigi “How to Sleep” berem med drugim:
Da	ženske	potrebujejo eno	uro več spanja kot moški;
Da	izmed	pet oseb	smrčijo trije moški in samo ena
ženska;
Da, kadar žena ne more več prenašati moževega smrčenja naj zažvižga. Smrčenje bo prenehalo vsaj za nekaj časa.
Mož smrči če spi z odprtimi usti. V takem slučaju naj žena v moževa usta spusti kak bonbonček ali košček mila. Smrčanje bo prenehalo.
Očetom in starim očetom prisrčen pozdrav in najlepše čestitke k njih prazniku ta mesec. Bog Vas živi!

OČETOVA
Neki misijonar je povedal sledečo zgodbo. Praporščak Keith je v svoji sobi v hotelu odprl svoj kovček iz svinjskega usnja. Vrh kupa belih srajc sta ležala dva spominka na njegove zadnje ure v New Yorku — gramofonska plošča in pismo.
Vzel je v roke očetovo skrivnostno pismo. Stresel ga je, poduhal in se že štiridesetič vprašal, kaj neki bi moglo biti v njem.
“Kdaj, misliš, boš prišel na ladjo Caine?” je vprašal oče popoldan pred Willievim odhodom.
“Ne vem, očka — čez tri ali štiri tedne.”
“Ne več.”
Nato je oče odšepal k pisalni mizi in izvlekel zapečateno pismo iz usnjene mape.
“Ko	se	boš javil ladji Caine —	tisti	dan, ko	prideš
tja, ne	prej in ne pozneje, odpri in	preberi tole pismo.”
“Kaj pa je notri?”
“Ej,	ko	mi bi bilo do tega, da izveš	že zdaj,	bi se
menda	ne	bi ubadal s pisanjem, da	me	je grabil	krč v
prste.”
“Seveda, očka.”
Zdaj je bil Willie tri tisoč milj daleč od očeta in kraja, kjer je bil tisto obljubil. Oče mu je rekel, naj pismo odpre, ko se prijavi v službo. Zdaj ima službo. Prižgal je cigareto, odprl pismo in se usedel, da ga prebere. Pri prvih besedah je planil pokonci. Bral je naprej sedeč na robu stola, pismo mu je drhtelo v rokah.
Dragi Willie.
V	času ko boš bral to pismo, mislim, da bom mrtev. Žal mi je, da sem te prestrašil, toda take novice najbrž ni mogoče povedati prijetno. Sitnosti, ki sem jih imel s prstom na nogi, je kriva precej huda motnja, nevarni melanom. Prognoza	je stoodstotno slaba.	Svoje	stanje
poznam že dolgo in	računal sem, da	bom	verjetno	umrl
to poletje. Toda prst je začel’ odmirati malo prej. Če sodim po zavarovalniških razpredelnicah, sem še nekoliko mlad za smrt. Gledam nazaj v svoje življenje, pa

Št. 6, Barberton, Ohio. — Naša majniška seja je bila zelo lepo obiskana. Vsa čast in priznanje našim vrlim članicam, ki so tako pokazale, da se spominjajo svojih mamic, kajti na tej seji smo praznovale Materinski dan.
Da so pa naše članice tudi fine kuharice se je zopet izkazalo ob tej priliki, kajti nanesle	so vsakovrstnih
dobrot za prigrizek,	nekatere so pa
tudi darovale v društveno blagajno.
Vsem najlepša hvala za izkazani ponos in zanimanje za delo naše edine ženske organizacije, SŽZ. Tako velika udeležba, kakor je bila na tej seji, daje tudi odbornicam korajžo in vzpodbudo za nadaljno delo. V lepem spominu nam bo ostala tudi mala G letna vnukinja naše članice Josephine Maver, ki je na odru tako lepo deklamirala na čast materam in nam vsem z ročkami oddala o-troški nedolžni poljub v znak spoštovanja do mater.
Spomnile smo se tudi naših pokojnih članic in ko je predsednica prebrala njihova imena, smo vse zapele prelepo Marijino pesem: “Češče-na si Marija, je Angelski glas, bo zadnja ura bila, Marija prid’ po nas ...” Ob tem žalostnem spominu so nekaterim kar solze močile oči.
Spomnile smo se tudi 75 letnih in

nimam dosti videti.. Zdi se mi, da sem živel popolnoma drugorazvedno življenje — ne samo v primeri z mojim očetom, tudi glede na svoje lastne zmožnosti . . .
Iz gole lagodnosti sem zanemaril svoj odnos do tebe, kakor sem zanemaril veliko drugih reči . . . Presenetljivo je, kako malo ti imam povedati v teh zadnjih vrsticah ... Če moreš, zapomni si — nič ni tako dragoceno kakor čas. Zapravljene ure ti uničijo življenje prav tako gotovo na začetku kakor na koncu — samo da je to na koncu bolj očitno. Izkoristi čas, dokler ga imaš, Willie, da nerediš nekaj iz sebe.
Glede vere: bojim se, da ti je nisem dosti dal, ker je midva sama nisva dosti imela. Toda poslal ti bom sveto pismo predno pojdem v bolnišnico. Mislim, da je v tej knjigi jedro vsega verovanja in veliko življenske modrosti vsebuje. Samo zmožen moraš biti, da to spoznaš. Jaz sem naletel na sveto pismo prepozno, kakor na vse drugo v življenju.
Glede denarnih zadev: Denar je zelo prijetna reč, Willie in mislim, da lahko s pametjo kupiš zanj skoraj vse, razen tistega, kar resnično želiš storiti. Če prodaš svoj čas za udobno življenje in zanemariš delo, za katero si nadarjen, mislim, da si naredil slabo kupčijo. V duši ti ostane neka nelagodnost, ki ti kazi zadovoljstvo.
Z menoj je končano. Tebi sem povedal zadnjo besedo o svojem življenju, če se ti dobro obneseš, si še vedno lahko lastjm nekaj uspeha v onostranstvo . . . Podajam ti roko. Že dolga, dolga leta se nisva poljubila. Dokler si bil otrok sem te rad poljubljal. Bil si mi zelo mil in dobrodušen otrok, s čudovitimi velikimi očmi. Bog moj. Kjer je že to.
Zbogom moj sin. Bodi mož,

Lepe besede in zavest, da je tudi oče odgovoren za vzgojo svojih otrok. Trdo delo in dolžnost priporočata človeka.
več članic z lepimi šopki, katere so jim mlade deklice pripenjale na prsi. In kako je bila ponosna naša zaslužna mati leta, Mary Valenčič, ki je dobila lepi “korsač”, kakor tudi naša najmlajša mamica, Betty Davis.
Globoko zahvalo smo dolžne tudi Mr. in Mrs. A. Brunski, ki sta nas zabavala z lepimi slikami iz raznih krajev naše Amerike. Tako se je končala naša seja v majniku, ki nam bo ostala v lepem spominu.
Sedaj pa moram poročati tudi žalostno novico, da se je po kratki bolezni na naglo poslovila od nas članica Mary Nikolas. Vse jo težko pogrešamo, ker je bila dobra članica podr. Zapustila je soproga, hčerko, 2 vnuka ter več sorodnikov. V imenu podružnice izrekam vsem naše globoko sožalje. Članice smo se poslovile od nje z molitvijo sv. rožnega venca pri pogrebniku na večer pred pogrebom ter jo z lepo udeležbo spremile na njeni zadnji poti na pokopališče.
Naj še omenim, da kakor navadno ne bomo imele sej črez poletje do meseca oktobra. Prosim vse tiste, ki dolgujejo na asesmentu, da poravnajo dolg na domu tajnice.

Št. 12, Milwaukee, Wis. — Vabim vse članice na sejo dne 18. junija v cerkveno dvorano. Pridite gotovo
v velikem številu in pripeljite tudi s seboj kandidatinje, da nadomestimo sestre, ki so nas zapustile. — Umrle sta dve naši članici v mesecu aprilu: ses. Matilda Peskovich in Antonia Bashell. Naše iskreno sožalje vsem žalujočim ostalim družinam. Njima pa naj bo lahka ameriška gruda.
Na bolniški listi imamo več naših sester in to so: Josephine Martinčič, Mary Erman, Anne Oreskovich, Kattie Stuller, Josephine Berginc, Annie Brulc, Mary Koropec, Josephine Jaklicli. Prosim sestre, da bi obiskovale bolne članice in jim tako lajšale dneve bolezni.

Št. 14, Euclid, Ohio. _ Poročilo seje 5. maja. Lepi pomladanski dan je privabil lepo udeležbo na seji, pa še več bi jih bilo, če ne bi bile ta dan volitve in so nekatere morale delati na voliščih.
Zadnji teden sta praznovala zlato poroko velespoštovana Mr. i Mrs. Setina. Josipina je naša članica. Nase drušstvo jima je izročilo dar za njuno 50 letnico poroke. V imenu podr. jima iskreno čestitamo, da bi še dolgo živela v zdravju in zadovoljstvu.

dobri članici: Mr. Jerale in Mrs. Bur-jak, ki je bila ubita v automobilski nesreči. Mrs. Burjak in njena hčerka sta se pripravljale, da bi šle na obisk v domovino, zato sta šle po trgovinah, da nakupita potrebne stvari za potovanje in darila sorodnikom. Stali sta na pločniku in gledale v okno trgovine na 185 cesti in Cleveland. Pridrvel je auto, mož za volanom je izgubil kontrolo nad vozilom in auto je zavozil na pločnik pri čemer je bila Mrs. Burjak na mestu ubita. Žalujočim ostalim izrekamo naše globoko sožalje. Njima pa želimo večni mir, večna luč naj jima sveti.
Valentin Klemenčič, soprog naše članice Rozi je tudi preminul pred par tedni. Vdovi izrekamo iskreno sožalje.
Ta večer smo tudi obhajale trimesečna godovanja in v ta namen so slavljenke prinesle mnogo okusnih dobrot; v jestvinah, pijači in denarju so darovale sestre:	Smrdel,
Vidmar, Ipavec, Vida Kuhar, F. Globokar, Perušek, Mandič, Ozanovič, Kral, Fakuld. Darovala je tudi družina Burjak $3 v zahvalo, ker smo molile in spremile njihovo mamo k pogrebu. Vsem skupaj najlepša hvala in naj vam ljubi Bog povrne na zdravju in sreči vse vaše žive dni.
Prosim vse članice, da bi se sedaj v poletnih mesecih v velikem številu udeleževale sej, saj je za vsakega dobro, če se sprehodi, zato ni treba zamuditi nobene seje. To velja za celo leto v zadovoljstvo odbora in članstva. Sprejmite pozdrav od naše podr. Antonija Sustar, poročevalka
št. 20, Joliet, III. — 21. junija bo ustanoviteljica SŽZ in dolgoletna predsednica ter sedanja častna predsednica, Mrs. Mary Prisland, obhajala svoj rojstni dan. Vse članice ji želimo, da bi še mnogo let dočakala živa, zdrava in čila. Zadnje čase se je ponovno morala podvreči težki o-peraciji, katero je srečno prestala. Upamo, da bo to njeno prihodnje leto in še mnogo leta, zdrava brez kakih bolezni in skrbi.
Mrs. Prisland ima mnogo zaslug pri Zvezi in ne samo tu, piše tudi zgodovino našega naroda na razna pristojna mesta, da s tem povzdigne naš narod. Ne vem, katera bi to storila in bi se temu posvetila, če nje ne bi bilo, zato se vse članice združimo in ji čestitamo, dokler jo še imamo v svoji sredi. Leta minevajo tako hitro, tu in tam zmanjka kaka delavna odbornica iz naše srede, ali znanka in dobra prijateljica. Ko so žive jih ne znamo dovolj ceniti, le kadar več ne bije njih srce, se šele zavedamo kaj smo izgubile. Zato je pravilni pregovor “dajte mi cvetlic v življenju in ne po smrti”. Št. 25, Ceveland, Ohio — Komaj smo se malo oddahnile po praznikih, pa že smo v sredi leta 1964. Da, nahajamo se v mesecu junij, ki je topel, sončni mesec — mesec Presv. Srca Jezusovega. To je najbolj priljubljen mesec za naše mlade nevestice — zato pa tudi obhajamo toliko obletnic v tem mesecu. Poleg teh pa imamo vedno tudi rojstne dneve, katerih se radi spominjamo.
V	tem mesecu bosta John in Louise Mahne z 827 E. 249 St., Euclid, Ohio, praznovala 27. obletnico svojega zakonskega življenja. Članice podr. št. 25 jima iskreno čestitamo ter želimo še obilo let zdravja, sreče in zadovoljstva v skupnem življenju.
Naša priljubljena predsednica, Paula Stampfel, praznuje ta mesec svoj 74. rojstni dan. Naša ustanovna članica, Louise Piks z 1643 Crest Rd., pa obhaja svojo 78-letnico; sestra Margaret Petrič z 1124 E. 66 St. pa 77. rojstni dan.
Vsem našim slavljenkam prav prisrčno čestitamo in jim kličemo: Živele še na mnoga leta!
Naši sestri Jennie Strnad z E. 60 St., ki zvesto prihaja na naše seje, pa želimo, da bi se ji ljubo zdravje skoro povrnila bi jo zopet videle veselo med nami.
Naše seje so bile zadnje čase zelo dobro obiskane. Nadejamo se, da bo toplejše vreme v prihodnjih mesecih privabilo tudi one druge članice, katerim je v mrzlih mesecih nemogoče
ANNA KOREVEC ZA VEDNO ZASPALA!
Sporočam žalostno vest, da smo za vedno izgubile našo dobro članico in pridno Zvezino delavko ter prijateljico, Mrs. Anna Korevec,, ki je umrla v starosti 60 let. Bila je bolna dalj časa ter si večkrat šla iskati zdravja tudi v Mayo Bros. Clinic, Rochester, Minn. Zadnjič je ležala
9	dni v nezavesti v tukajšnji bolnišnici. Ni se podala bolezni in večkrat je rekla, ko bom zapustila svojo službo v kaznilnici, bom pa bolj redno prihajala na seje. Vseeno' je zadnjič nas obiskala in smo skupno odšle k ses. Plut v Johnston Nursing Home. Obljubila je, da bo še prišla. Bila je hrabra žena in ni se podala bolezni, celo bodrila je druge bolnice.
Podružnica bo pok. sestro zelo pogrešala, saj je bila naša dolgoletna nadzornica, nato podpredsednica in tudi predsednica. Bila je chairman mnogo naših prireditev, ki so vse uspele, ker je delala s srcem. Bila je tudi delegatinja v Minnesoti In leta 1960 je bila izbrana za zaslužno mater podr. To odlikovanje ji je bilo zelo v ponos.
Njena mama, Anna Agnich, ki je umrla pred nekaj leti, je bila tudi naša članica, kakor njena hčerka Marian Theobald, ki je tako nenadoma umrla, je bila tajnica Zvezine-ga kegljaškega krožka. Žalost, ki jo
zapustiti hiše. Veste, sestre, tako prijetno je srečati se s svojimi znankami in prijateljicami, malo pokramljati in pozabavati se s prebiranjem številk! To bodo lahko potrdile one, katere redno prihajajo na naše seje.
Pred kratkim smo imele priliko govoriti tudi s sestro Josephine Cimperman ki vodijo grocerijsko trgovino in mesnico na vogalu Glass in Norwood Rd., in so postregli že na tisoče naših rojakov in družin tekom dolgih let. Cimpermanova družina je dobro zastopana pri podružnici št. 25. Poleg nje, so članice tudi hčerka, sinaha, vnukinje in vnuki.
Ponovno želim opozoriti vse, katere nimate svojih certifikatov urejenih, oziroma nimate označene dediče po vaši volji, da to storite čim prej. Pokličite ali pridite na sejo ali na dan, ko pobiram asesment v šolski dvorani, in bomo to uredile. Mnogokrat nastanejo neprilike, če ni sprememba napravljena na certifikatu, ako je označena oseba za dediča, ki je že morda prej umrla. Seje so vsak drugi ponedeljek v mesecu, asesment pa pobiram vsakega 25. v mesecu v šolski dvorani od 4:30 ure popoldne naprej.
Prosim tudi, da bi članice, lcatre so zaostale s svojim asesmentom, istega poravnale v tem mesecu. Zelo neprijetno je, če članice zaostajajo s svojim asesmentom. To daje tajnici nepotrebno delo. Torej, hvaležna vam bom za vaše sodelovanje v tem oziru.

je zadela z izgubo njene hčerke je našo pokojnico tako globoko zadela, da se ji je duševno trpljenje poznalo na obrazu.
Pok. zapušča soproga Louis-a, hčerko Irene, por. Bishop ter 4 vnuke. Za njo žaluje tudi sestra Betty Theobald in mnogo sorodnikov.
Naše sožalje preostalim sorodnikom, naši Anni pa z Bogom in do svidenja nad zvezdami, saj ne boš nikdar pozabljena med nami.

Št. 21, Cleveland, Ohio. — Danes nimam prav mnogo za poročati. Ker je bila materinska proslava in večerja, zato je seja odpadla. — Hvala Bogu in Majniški Kraljici, da smo dočakali ta prelepi mesec maj, ko je vse veselo in vse v cvetju.
Zelo moram pohvaliti sestri Marija Hočevar in Ana Lunder, ki sta na-heklale krasen afgan in ga darovale za cerkev. Dali so na listke in dobila ga je 5 mesecev stara vnukinja Mrs. Kočevar. Bog Vama plačaj za storjeno dobro delo!
V	juliju in avgustu ne bo sej.

THERESA KERZE:
LA PIETA—neprecenljiva umetnost
NA letošnji svetovni razstavi v New Yorku, bo tudi Vatikan imel svoj pavilijon, kjer bo ta dragocenost obiskovalcem na ogled. New Yorški nadškof Francis Spellman je sprožil to idejo in še prejšnji papež John 23. je soglašal z nadškofom. Ljudem ta ideja ni bila všeč in veliko protestov je prišlo v urad sedanjega papeža Pavla šestega.
“PIETA” predstavlja Marijo z mrtvim truplom svojega sina Jezusa v naročju. Leta 499 je bil 24 letni Michelangelo poklican iz Florence v Rim. V Vatikanu je sprejel to, nad vse nepričakovano, naročilo. Podprl ga je njegov prijatelj bankir Jacopo Gallo iz Rima. On je v pogodbi omenil, da bo delo prvovrstno in izvršeno v teku enega leta. Umetniku so obljubili plačati 450 dukatov, kar bi po naši valuti zneslo $5,625. Radi bi vedeli, koliko milijonarjev bi danes plačalo za ta umotvor izpod rok tako slavnega umetika, kakor je Michelangelo postal s tem kipom. Napravil je pozneje še več prekrasnih upodabljan iz marmorja, a nobena mu ni prinesla toliko slave, kakor že ta iz marmorja izklesan prizor, ko drži Marija truplo svojega sina v naročju. U-metnik se ni nikdar podpisal na svoje umetnine ampak Pieta pa nosi na traku na Marijini rami njegovo ime.
Marmor je težak in ta spomenik tehta 6,700 lb in si moremo misliti, kolike previdnosti je bilo treba predno se je ves spomenik zavil, pokril in spravil na 4000 milj dolgo pot. Ameriški komitej, ki je prevzel finančno odgovornost za to pošiljko, je skrbel, da se je vsak izpostavljen del še posebej zavil. Marijina leva roka in Jezusova leva noga sta najbolj izpostavljena v tej skupini. To se posebno zavili predno kaj druzega. Bel papir in posebne vrste plastika je pokrila ves kos spomenika. Položili so ga v lesen zaboj. Tega v še večji zaboj in nazadnje pa še v zaboj iz jekla. Tega so belo pobarvali in pokrov pa z živo oranžno barvo. Kdor le more, naj pride občudovat to umetnino.

Kar boljše sem se počutila, ko so me prišle prijateljice obiskati. Enako se iz vsega srca zahvalim za tako lepe cvetlice ter vsa druga darila. Še enkrat vsem in vsakemu posebej lepa hvala in Bog naj vam povrne stoterokrat za vse kar ste mi dobrega storile, posebno pa vam želim ljubega zdravja, ki je največje bogastvo in največje veselje na tem svetu. Št. 32, Euclid, Ohio. — Zopet je tukaj prelepi mesec maj in upamo, da se bomo tudi me uoživele in da nam bo gorko sonce prineslo ljubega zdravja.
Eva in Joe Majcen sta obhajala 50 letnico poroke, v nedeljo dne 3. maja. Ona je bila naša dolgoletna tajnica. Imata sina Joeja ml. in hčer Mrs. Andrew Paul ter dva vnuka. Vsem sorodnikom se pridružu-
jemo tudi me in jima želimo še mnogo let v zdravju in zadovoljstvu.
Mary Strnad je bila na operaciji in Katie Skrobek se je tudi zdravila v bolnici. Bog daj tem in vsem našim bolnim ljubega zdravja.
Iskreno sožalje izrekamo naši tajnici, Lilian Vehovec i vsem domačim nad izgubo matere, Štefanije Popovič, ki je dne 17. aprila po dolgi bolezni, umrla. — Sožalje Ann Chin-chalr nad tako naglo izgubo matere, Ann Burjak. Bile so na pločniku pred trgovino na 185 cesti, ko je avto zavozil v mater ter jo ubil. Naj v miru počivajo in Bog jim bodi milostljiv.
Zopet bo šlo več naših članic na potovanje. Želimo vsem srečno vrnitev.
Mary Vodičar se je že vrnila iz potovanja, ko je bila z Math in Fanny Močnik v Californiji. Potovali so nad 6 tednov in domov prinesli mnogo lepih spominov. Bili so tudi v Fontani, Calif., kjer so obiskali več znancev, med njimi tudi Georga in Carolino Ka-liope (ona je bila naša bivša blagajničarka.) Žal George še vedno trpi za boleznijo. Obiskala sta tudi Joe in Kristine Filips (naša nekdanja predsednica. Hvala velja vsem za prijaz-
no postrežbo, posebno še Filipsovim, ki so jih vozili, da so bile tudi na TV programu “Queen for a day”, dalje v cerkvi in na seji št. 100. Pohvalile so jih, da so lepo zborovale.

Št. 39, Bivabik, Minn. — Ker se
nobena ne oglasi od naše podružnice, zato bom pa jaz nekoliko poročala, saj imamo tudi precej novic, kakor drugod. Nisem sicer poročevalka, toda sem ustanovila podr. št. 39 v našem kraju.
Sporočam, da je lani dne 27. dec. preminul moj dragi sin, John Strukel.
Rojen je bil 13. jan. 1908 in kar tako nepričakovano nas je zapustil. Toliko hujše nam je bilo, ker smo ga našli nepričakovano mrtvega v postelji. Mislili smo, da tako lepo spi, toda zaspal je za večno. Pok. je vedno živel in delal v Železnem okrožju, bil je priljubljen pri vseh, ki so ga poznali. To se je pokazalo tudi ob smrti, ker so prišli iz vseh krajev, da se poslovijo od njega, ko je ležal na mrtvaškem odru. Imel je toliko cvetlic, da je rakva bila vsa v cvetju in premnogi so darovali za sv. maše. Naj se Vam vsem in vsakemu posebej iskreno zahvalim za Vašo naklonjenost in prijateljstvo, česar ne bom nikoli pozabila. — Pokojni je v času moje bolezni mi vedno prinašal cvetlice in nikoli ni pozabil ter me obdaril za materinski dan ter rojstne dneve, toda zdaj ga že krije črna zemlja. Zapustil je mene neutolažljivo mater, brata Franka in Joe ter 3 sestre: Zofi (Frank) Žgajner, Annie (Joe) Mohar na Gilbertu ter Mary (Fred) Kohler v Benett, Wis. — Naj blagi sin počiva v miru poleg svojega očeta in naj mu sveti večna luč, mi se Te bomo spominjali v molitvah.
Smrt ti vzela je življenje, konec tvojega je trpljenja; Spomin na tebe bo ostal, dokler od nas zadnji bo ostal.
Mary Strukel
Št. 41, Cleveland, O. — Vsem članicam, katere so se udeležile seje počast materinske proslave, prav prisrčna hvala. Posebej pa smo pogostile našo ses. predsednico Mary Debevec, ker odpotuje na obisk svojih dragih v domovino. Želimo jim srečno potovanje, veselo bivanje med svojimi dragimi in zdrav povratek.
Po kratki bolezni se je preselila v večnost ses. Mary Pleseč. Pk. Mary je bila leta 1957 naša častna mati podružnice ter se je vedno zanimala za napredek Zveze. Žalujoči hčerki, sinovoma in družinam izrekamo naše globoko sožalje. Pokojna sestra pa naj v miru počiva in ohranjen naj ji bo lep spomin.
Takoj ob začetku tega leta je pomotoma izostalo ime ses. Rose Kerže, ki je darovala skoro cel petak v blagajno. Upam, da bo Rose oprostila pomoti in pozni, pa toliko bolj iskreni zahvali. Prisrčna hvala tudi ses. M. Franz, J. Fajdiga, A. Haffner in K. Kovach za dar v blagajno.
Prisrčno čestitamo ses. Mary Poje in soprogu, ki sta v krogu družine in prijateljev obhajala zlato poroko. Želimo jima še mnogo let zdravja in zadovoljstva.
Vse naboljše želimo naši ustanoviteljici, Mrs. Marie Prisland za rojstni dan v tem mesecu. Bog Vas ohrani pri najboljšem zdravju še mnogo let.
Iskrene čestitke našim ostalim in novo izvoljenim gl. odbornicam, želimo vam vsem mnogo uspeha za napredek organizacije.

Št. 55, Girard, Ohio — Predsednica Barbara Umek odpre aprilsko sejo z molitvijo. Bila je lepa udeležba. Hvala članice, le tako naprej. Naša card party je lepo uspela, bil je lep zabavni večer ob dobri udeležbi. Dobitkov je bilo dosti in tudi naša blagajna si je opomogla. Dne 14. maja smo imele vesel sestanek “Mother-Daughter Banquet”, ki se je vršil v Slov. Domu. Mrs. Matilda Cigolle je naša slavljena mati leta 1964.
V	bolnici sta se nahajale dve članice: Amelia Robsel in Elnma Zore. Vse jima želimo zdravja.
Izrekamo iskreno sožalje Jennie Ol-shuk k izgubi dragega soproga. Bog mu daj mirni počitek.
Ses. Barbara Umek in Josephine Pe-rushek sta nam servirale okusni desert in kavo. — Darila priljubljenih iger so bile deležne: Barbara Umek, in Anna Krivak. — Črez poletne mesece, jun., jul. in augusta ne bomo imele mesečnih sej, toda naša Mary Mehalko vljudno prosi, da bi vseeno vse bile točne z asesmentom.

Št. 68, Fairport Harbor, Ohio. Sedaj se pridno kretamo z motikami po naših vrtovih in rožice sadimo. — Naša redna mesečna seja v aprilu, ni bila nič kaj preveč obiskana, zaradi mrzlega in deževnega vremena. Sklepale smo o programu Materinskega dneva, ki je bil 17. maja.
Sklenilo se je tudi, da darujemo ses. Jennie Troha v spomin njenega pokojnega soproga, $5. Predsednica Jennie Mohorčič je predlagala, da se daruje $5 v duhovne namene v staro domovino.
Darilo navzočnosti (door prize) je dobila Jennie Zupan.
Po daljšem času se je zopet udeležila seje naša dobra čla. Angela Godec, ki je po daljšem času zopet okrevala. Podvreči se je morala resni operaciji.

Št. 88, Johnstown, Pa. — Prišla je pomlad; tukaj je vse ozelenelo, da se lahko gibljemo na prostem ter sadimo rožice in druge vrtne pridelke.
Pred letom dni sva se s sestro Kamnikar opravljali za na pot v staro domovino. Letos pa želim, da bi šle še druge članice po Ameriki pogledat svoj rojstni kraj, saj vožnja je dobro urejena in prijetna in nad vse zanimivo je pa, kako hitro se i>ride tja z letalom.
Minilo je že pet mesecev tega leta in čas je, da bi vse članice poskrbele imeti plačan asesment. Lepo prosim, da to storite še ta mesec.
Sestra Anna Martinčič si je pri padcu zlomila roko. Želimo ji vse, da bi hitro odkrevala.

Št. 90, Presto, Pa. — Moram napisati nekaj vrstic v našo priljubljeno Zarjo. Sporočam, da gre vse dobro pri naši podružnici. Mnogo članic se kar lepo zanima za našo Zvezo in podružnico ter pomagajo kjerkoli je potrebno. V aprilu smo imele lcartno zabavo in smo zelo dobro naredile. Zahvala gre odbornicam in nekaterim članicam, ki so tako pridno delale, kakor tudi vse ostale, ki so prinesle darila za dobitke, tako, da se je vse prav dobro obneslo in podprlo našo blagajno. V imenu odbornic, se želim vsem lepo zahvaliti, ki ste pomagale k uspehu.
Mesec majnik bo že za nami, ko boste čitale te vrstice. Tudi mesec naše konvencije in ko bo ta Zarja priromala v naše domove bo vse za nami. Prepričana sem, da bodo vsi sklepi konvencije v dobro Zveze in članstva.

Št. 99, Elmhurst, III. — Naša seja v mesecu aprilu je bila kljub slabemu vremenu, še precej dobro obiskana.
V	zadnjem svojem poročilu sem morala pisati o žalostnih novicah, tudi danes nimam nič kaj veselih vesti. — Naše čla. Kristina Alberti je bila ze-
lo	bolana, bila je v bolnišnici štiri tedne, sedaj se zdravi doma, to je na domu njene sestre Olge Cigoi.
Tudi jaz sem bila zelo bolana, a sedaj sem že precej dobra. — Hvala članicam, ki so me prišle obiskati. Upam, da bomo obe Kristine in jaz že popolnoma zdravi, predno pride ta moj dopis do vas.
Pozdrav vseta članicam, bolnim naj Bog da ljubega zdravja, zdravim pa naj ga Bog ohrani.

Št. 100, Fontana, Calif. — Želim poročati o naši proslavi Materinskega dneva. Počastile smo častno mater leta, ki je bila letos naša predsednica, Jennie Kurilich. Ona si zasluži to čast. Tako je naš podr. skupno z društvom Sv. Jožefa, KSKJ, pripravila odhodnico na čast Jenie in njenega soproga Sama, ki bosta v juniju odpotovala v Slovenijo s skupino Slovenske Ženske Zveze. Njihova hčerka Frances Kurilich, bo pa odpotovala skupno s Fontana High School, ker ona je ena najboljših učenk ter je dobila prosto vožnjo, da bo študirala jezike in druge predmete v Evropi. Čestitke, Frances, in upamo, da bo sama kaj več poročala v Zarji, ker je bila izvoljena za poročevalko Zarje v angleškem jeziku. — Kurilichem smo kupili skupno kovčege, ki jim bodo prišli prav na potovanju. — Po večerji pa je nam poznani Joseph Mlakar zaigral vesele polke in prepeval lepe slovenske pesmi.

JUNE is the birth month of our eldest daughter who will be seventeen. Her life is filled with school, homework, phone calls, hospital volunteer, knitting, sewing, swimming, canoeing, Girl Scouting, teasing, arguing, loving, hating, experiencing emotional ups and downs. Solicitous and indifferent, she joins other teenagers in being “complicated, moody, unpredictable, often self-centered, and at times maddening.”
During a fewr of her contemplative moments, the following school essay was originated:
“HOW TIME SLIPS AWAY”
‘Have you ever thought of how much you’ve changed in the past second? in the past minute? in the past hour? in the past day? in the past week? in the past month? In the past year? in your lifetime? or to put it simply, in the past?
In this last fleeting second we have become one second older. There is one second less left to our lives. And as time goes on our life gets shorter and shorter, and we have less time to repent for our sins before the Al mighty God calls us to Himself.
Multiply the time it took you to read the last paragraph (approx. 15 seconds) by four and it’ll give you about one minute. In this minute loads of fresh blood has been pumped from your heart into the arteries. You have moved a countless number of muscles in your body and you’ve also become more self-conscious of the passing of time, since you began reading this essay.
So, too, in the past hour, someone you know may have said something, which may have changed your whole outlook on life. You could have had a real bright side of life changed to

All the boys and girls of this organization extend to her fondest Birthday Wishes with a prayer that God will continue to bless her throughout another year.

On this date in 1777 John Adams offered a resolution in the Continental Congress “That the flag of the 13 United States be 13 stripes, alternate red and white, that the union be 13 stars, white in a blue field, representing a new constellation." Thus was born the banner of a tiny little nation that was to become the most powerful force for the freedom of men on the face of the earth. The 13 stars which represented 13 little states with a population of a little over three million, were to become 50, "representing a vast and powerful nation, grown strong and influential in the concept that, in the ultimate, right makes might.” Proudly, display your flag on the 14th.
IIAPPY FATHER’S DAY
JUNE 21 we honor our Dads—heads of families, providors, advisors, companions, community leaders, models, loving fathers and one of God’s representatives in the family circle. It is a day to express gratitude and appreciation with gifts and cards.
Perhaps your dad could use a paperweight, easily made with a snap-on lid glass jar. The outside of the lid is painted and the inside filed with colored plastic clay, leaving space a-round the outer edge for the rim of the glass to set in.
Place firmly in the clay a tiny figure as a bird, animal or doll. Add other bits of scenery, as bittersweet, berries, stones, shells, artificial flowers, beads, pipe cleaner, other odds and ends to complete the scenery. Lastly, put the glass carefully over the finished scene and snap it into the lid base.
JUNE marks the end of a school year. School doors close on a year of learning, homework, tasks and “teachers’ dirty looks” and another^ set of doors open to fun, fun, fun, which includes swimming, family vacations, relaxation, picnics, fairs, carnivals, zoos, golf, tennis and fishing.
Summer days are also an opportunity to be helpful at home, CYO school or any other volunteer projects. Summer days provide one with special training curriculum, as sewing, cooking, gardening, swimming or some specially interesting subject.
But whatever you do this summer be safety-conscious. Accidents will only ruin an otherwise well-planned vacation.
JUNE is dedicated to the Sacred Heart. “Jesus, meek and humble of heart, make our hearts like unto Thine."
