Sv. Duh - Tolažnik
Preden se je Kristus poslovil v vidni podobi s sveta, je svojim učencem obljubil »drugega Tolažnika«. Ali smo se že kdaj zamislili nad tem, da ime Božjega Duha pomeni tistega, ki tolaži?
V sloviti in genialni ikoni Svete Trojice Andreja Rubljova, ruskega ikonopisca iz 14. stol., na kateri so tri Božje osebe predstavljene v podobi treh angelov, sta Sin in Sveti1 Duh predstavljena kot dve Očetovi roki in angela na levi in desni ponavljata kretnji Očetovih rok. Ljubkost linij angela na desni, ki predstavlja Svetega Duha, izraža nekaj materinskega, (Duh je v semitskih jezikih ženskega spola), Sveti Duh je tolažnik. V moči njegovega diha se Oče sklanja k Sinu in se Sin obrača k Očetu. Spuščajoča se desna roka angela na desni kaže smer blagoslavljanja - svet; zdi se kakor da skuša nekaj pokriti, zavarovati, kakor koklja piščeta. Še več, s svojim položajem nas ta roka spominja na razprta krila čiste golobice. Ali je nekaj podobnega začutil nizozemski slikar Rembrandt, ko je na sliki »Vrnitev izgubljenega sina« upodobil očeta, ki sprejema sina, z eno moško in drugo žensko roko? Brez Svetega Duha ni spoznavanja Boga, ni vere in ni življenja. Sv. Janez Damaščan pravi: »V Svetem Duhu prepoznavamo Kristusa za Božjega Sina in v Sinu zremo Očeta.«
Bogoslužje Cerkve ima čudovito pesem, ki govori o Svetem Duhu — pesem slednico na binkoštni praznik. V njej se prepletata rodovitna, snujoča tišina in globoka prisrčna bližina. Njen ritem se (v lat. izvirniku) ujema s tihim srčnim utripom. Tiha in čisto ponotranjena govorica pesmi. Človekovo srce s svojim trpljenjem, bolečinami in utrujenostjo govori z Bogom, ki tolaži in ve, da bo vsaka beseda sprejeta in da bo dobilo svoj odgovor. In kakor da se končuje z vriskom: Amen. Aleluja!
Človek najprej občuti Boga kot Mogočnega, Strašnega, Grozečega. Vendar nam je bolj ljubeče blizu kot mati otroku, ki se je rodil iz njene krvi; za katerega bi se rada spremenila v en sam topel dotik. O tem Bogu, našem Bogu, so zapisane te čudovite besede: »Tolažil vas bom, kot tolaži mati.« Kaj pa je pravzaprav tolažba? Prigovarjanje in dokazovanje ne tolaži, temveč pušča človeka hladnega in človek ostaja sam s svojo stisko. Pri tolaženju gre za nekaj živega, bližino. Kdor hoče tolažiti, mora ljubiti, mora biti odprt, mora resnično iti preko, mora videti, mora imeti čuteče srce, ki s tiho gotovostjo najde dostop k ranjenim mestom. Mora imeti moč, ki človeka prikliče iz njega samega, da se zopet dvigne. Moč, ki sprošča, kliče k najboljšemu, kar je v človeku.
Tolažiti je potrebno, ko je bil nekdo globoko ranjen; ko mu je bilo odvzeto in razbiro nekaj dragocenega; ko se nekdo čuti omadeževan, mu dati zagotovilo, da lahko premaga vse ostudno. Tolažiti, ko se čuti kriv in v stiski svoje vesti ne najde nobenega izhoda. Tisti, ki ljubi, zna osvetliti poti in možnosti za rešitev ... Človeška ljubezen, resnično čista in nesebična, gotovo zmore tako tolažiti. Toda kmalu zadene ob svoje lastne meje, ker ni Bog.
KRISTUS nam je poslal Svetega Duha. Skrivnostna beseda ga imenuje »vez«. V njem je prišel k nam Bog kot Tolažnik — kot bližina sama, kot sveta bližina. Prišel je k nam, da bi nas poučil in okrepil. On zna in zmore tolažiti tudi, ko je brezupnost neskončna, mnogovrstna kot življenje samo, ki se je odvrnilo od Božjega srca. Tedaj nastopi stiska, ki utruja, plaši, duši; bolečine, ki jih nihče ne lajša, krivde, ki
razjedajo, skratka brezizhodno življenje, ko človek ve, kako bi moralo biti, če bi zmogel ljubiti, pa ne zmore.
Pošlji svojega Duha - in prerojeni bomo - in prenovil boš obličje zemlje? Ali veruješ, da se lahko dotakne tvoje duše in bo vse postalo drugače. Spoznaš, da imaš srce in da je tudi Tebi odločeno ljubiti: vse je nekje dobro in se »splača»; po božje se splača biti tukaj, vztrajati. Če se nekomu tako zgodi, in Gospod nam je zagotovil, da bo tako, tedaj spozna, kaj je tolažba, saj je Sveti Duh nevsi-ljiv gost. Čaka neopazen, da lahko vstopi in človeka pouči in obdari odznotraj; zato: »Pridi, srcem svetla luč!« Pridi, čudež te luči. Ozdravi naša srca slepote! Tvoja luč ni mrzla, ne sije od daleč. Je luč, ki sije v srcu, sredi vsakdanjega življenja in ga napravlja, da je nekaj toplega in domačega. Počitek in obenem hladilna sapica sredi vročine in teže dneva. Sredi skrbi in žalosti izvir tolažbe, ki puščavo bivanja spreminja v oazo in ga ne zmore zadušiti nobena naveličanost.
SLOVENSKA ŠOLA - zaključek_
V soboto, 27. maja 2017, smo se z otroci Slovenske šole in nekaterimi starši, zbrali k sveti maši, da bi se Bogu zahvalili za šolsko leto. Na koncu maše sta Marcus Miklavčič in Mark Kežman od ravnateljice Slovenske šole, Sandy Ferletič, prejela potrdilo o zaključku sobotne Slovenske šole, nato pa so se otroci odpravili na zabavni del dneva. Sandy je rezervila v »Flying Squirrel« -trampolineplace, od 11h do 1h popoldne. Otroci so plačali $10, ostalo je pokrila šola. Ne le otroci, tudi stariši so uživali in se veselili, pa tudi dodobra razgibali. Hvala učiteljicam in staršem, ki so omogočili otrokom to prijetno zabavo in skupno druženje.

praznik prvega sv. obhajila
V nedeljo, 28. maja 2017 - zadnjo nedeljo v mesecu - smo sem zbrali pri deseti maši. Da je bila ta dan samo ena maša, smo imeli velik razlog - štirje mladi so prvič prejeli Jezusa: Kristopher Thomas Kanc, Deyan Tomaž Škrban, Leila Strayer in Adrian Alec Tompa. Praznovanje smo začeli pri kipu Marije Pomočnice na našem parkirišču, saj je tudi vreme ta dan pripomoglo, saj je bilo dokaj jasno jutro. Posvetili smo se Mariji, fantje so pred Marijo postavili goreče sveče, Leila pa šopek belih rož. Ob pesmi smo se v procesiji napotili v cerkev. Križ in sveči naprej, prvoobhajanci s svojimi starši, ministranje in duhovnik, pevci in vsi ostali. Tudi cerkev je bila za ta dan ozaljšana s prelepim cvetjem. Za okrasitev, je kot vedno, poskrbela Olga Glavač - iskrena vam hvala. Pri maši sta pela mešani zbor in del maše po povzdigovanju, angleški zbor. Prvo berilo je v svlovenščini prebrala Mateja Mihelčič, drugega pa Shannon Kanc. Prošnje sta brala oče Tomaž Škrban in njegov sin Danijel. Darove so prinesli kar prvoobhajanci sami: šopek, kruh, vino in hostije. Po svetem obhajilu so se prvoobhajanci še zahvalili - prav prisrčno je slišati zahvale iz ust najmlajših. Ob koncu svete maše smo se še skupaj z ministranti in prvoobhajanci poslikali, da bo nekaj ostalo tudi za oči. Hvala vsem, ki ste sodelovali pri pripravi praznovanja, še posebej Mateji Mihelčič in Lorie Mramor, ki sta bile ob prvoobhajancih, da je vse lepo potekalo. Hvala pevcem, ministrantom, bralcem in vsem, ki ste z molili, da bi naši najmlajši, skupaj z družinami lepo obhajali ta dan.

In July 2016 Pope Francis paid a visit to Poland and attended the gathering of young people in Krakow for World Youth Day. The Holy Father was greeted by cheering crowds as he made his way to the park, and by the sight of happy faces among all the young people gathered there to welcome him. It was an inspiring sight and a happy occasion. On the following day the Pope went to Auschwitz and walked silently into that fearful compound where so many people had met their deaths, murdered by the Nazis. No words were spoken as he walked about and then sat in silence to remember the souls who had perished there.
Remembrance of past darkness was not the only thing occupying our minds at that time. Even as the young people gathered to rejoice in their lives and their common faith, terrorist attacks in France killed people on the Promenade des Anglais in Nice

and murdered an old priest in a quiet church in Normandy. In the Middle East, in Syria and Iraq people were losing their lives every day as war raged on.
Pope Francis was asked for a comment on all this and his words were well chosen. He asked us to admit that we are indeed at war with one another, and also to accept that this war is not caused or motivated by religion. Its reasons are the age-old reasons for war - desire for power and possessions, interests, money and resources. And we are all afraid of what might happen.
Gospel Teaching
On the day of Pentecost the disciples, likewise, were afraid of what might happen to them. They huddled together in an upper room with locked doors, waiting for something to happen. The Lord had promised them that the Spirit would come and so they waited. Now the room shook and the sound of the wind could be heard, and the vision of
tongues of fire came upon each one of them. Each individual and the whole group together were gifted with the coming of the Spirit. It did not take long for the effects of that Spirit to be seen and heard. The people in the neighbourhood gathered, and they were people from every nation under heaven. That they all understood what was being said to them by the disciples was a clear indication of the Spirit's power to unite disparate peoples. This is the great gift of the Holy Spirit - to bring understanding between people who before now could not communicate with one another very easily at all.
Reading again the story of that moment in the upper room when Jesus appeared to his friends teaches us that the Spirit of God brings three great gifts to us, if we will receive them. The first is the gift of peace. Shalom is a word and a grace that Jesus imparts to the disciples, now that all the violence has done its worst. Then the Lord gives his friends their mission to the world. As he was sent, so now they are sent. Finally the Spirit will empower them to bring reconciliation into a torn and troubled world.
Application
This day is known as the "birthday" of the Church. We were born on this day. The Spirit came and enlivened a group that had almost died. The risen Lord sent his living Spirit to be our life. Each one of us, as well as the whole Church together, receives the gift, and the gift is to be used. We begin with the gift of peace. Not the world's peace, initially, but our own. We seek to grow in the gift of a peaceful mind and heart, and peaceful relationships in our
life. That is our first prayer. Come, Holy Spirit, into my heart and mind and life.
The second gift is the mission. You are sent out from this church into the world around you. You are able, with the Spirit's help, to be outgoing and to help bring a gift of peace into the lives of those you live with and work with. You have a responsibility now. It is a grace given to you. Do not let it go for nothing. You can inspire others.
Finally, the third gift is the grace to reconcile people who are at war with one another. There is the power to forgive others and the power to call people to justice. Do you believe this? Do you accept this? Come, Holy Spirit.

Letošnji Baragovi dnevi so predvideni za »Long weekend« v septembru (2. in 3.) in sicer v kraju Grand Rapids, Michigan. V eno smer je naveč 6 ur vožnje, enkrat bi prespali in se v nedeljo zvečer vrnili domov.

Program je podoben kot ostala leta, v soboto bo slovenska maša ob 6:30 zvečer, v nedeljo pa bo angleška maša ob 2:00 popoldne, nato pa banket in srečanje. Po srečanju pa se vrnemo domov.
