THE BASIC OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF COMPUTERIZED INFORMATION SYSTEM IN THE CENTRAL TECHNICAL LIBRARY - Strategic _________________ Appraisal__________________ Nada Čučnik-Majcen Edvard Kardelj University, Central Technical Library Ljubljana, Yugoslavia The article is a strategic appraisal of the developmental prospects in the Central Technical Library of The Edvard Kardelj University in Ljubljana. Developmental issues for the promotion of library-information services are discussed in the view of the prospects to introduce information technology to support the on-going and future services. The author also compares library services to the production processes with the objective to point to the growing linkages of the library services with the requirements of the users in industrial, business and scientific areas. Several strategic points are outlined for further development of the Central Technical Library within the scientific and technical information (STI) system in the republic of Slovenia and in Yugoslavia. 18 Knjižnica.
