»Pripravljen?« »Vedno pripravljen!«
Je skavtsko geslo in bi ga lahko uporabili tudi sami, da bi se zavedali pomembnosti vsakega trenutka življenja. Bližamo se koncu cerkvenega leta. Konec leta pa nas opozarja nad konec našega življenja in obračun zanj pred Stvarnikom in Odrešenikom. Pd razmišljanju o vsebini našega življenja in njegovem iztekanju pa najbrž ni najbolj važno niti potrebno, da bi se nekako strašili s koncem in božjo sodbo. Verjetno bo bolje, če razmišljamo o radosti in občutkih polnosti, ki nas bodo vedno bolj prevzemali, če bomo skušali svoje dneve napolnjevati z dobroto, s človeškim, z božjim. Misli odlomkov bogoslužja božje besede nam bodo pomagale k temu vedremu gledanju na življenje, ki ga sestavljajo majhni kamenčki dobrote. Ti pa so vsakomur dostopni.
Ko sv. Pavel v 2. berilu razmišlja o koncu sveta, pripominja, da bo leta prišel nenadoma: »Sami dobro veste,« pravi »da pride Gospodov dan kakor tat ponoči.« Kaj naj torej mislimo o raznih napovedih? Saj še za konec svojega življenja nihče ne more napovedati ničesar gotovega. Potem pa, zanimivo, apostol vedro govori o pripravljenosti dobrih kristjanov na Gospodov prihod: »Vi pa, bratje, niste v temi, da bi vas ta dan zalotil kakor tat. Zakaj vsi vi ste otroci luči.« Luč je dobrota, luč je plemenitost, luč je pripravljenost pomagati do zadnjega dne življenja. Zato pravi apostol: »Ne spimo kakor drugi, ampak čujmo in bodimo trezni.« Poziva nas k treznosti, človek bi rekel k vsakdanjosti ali k veličini v majhnih stvareh, ki jih lahko opravimo z veliko dušo, z veliko ljubeznijo. Potem borno vedno budni, vedno pripravljeni na Gospodov prihod.
- Jezus v evangeliju te nedelje spet nedosegljivo, čeprav tako preprosto, govori o našem življenju in naši dolžnosti, da ga gradimo iz dneva v dan. Merilo njegove vrednosti ni kolikost izvedenih del, ampak njegova kakovost, notranja vrednost, sodelovanje z danimi darovi.
MARTINOVANJE
V soboto, 8. novembra 2014 se je zgornja dvorana zelo lepo napolnila z gosti, tako, da že dolgo nismo videli tolikšnega obiska ob praznovanju sv. Martina. Verjetno je pripomoglo tudi dejstvo, da je igral naš "stari-novi" Ansambel SLO-BEAT. Z zelo pestro izbiro pesmi, za mlajšo in starejšo generacijo so mnoge pritegnili tudi na plesišče.
Tudi letos smo dobili kar nekaj steklenic vina za ocenjevanje. Imeli smo 4 sodnike, med njimi David, ki že 30 let ocenjuje vino, zato je bil izbor najboljšin vin zanesljivo kvaliteten. Sodniki so bili: David Medhurst, Anna Serrani, Mrianne Skerl, Robert Poppa. Heidy Novak je sprejemala vina in ga posredovala komisiji. In na koncu smo dobili sledeče nagrajence: Za belo vino je prejela priznanje Sidonia Drvarič, za rdeče vino pa so prejeli: 1. Ivan Miketič, 2. Sidonia Drvarič 3. Gizela Hauzar. Poleg tega smo imeli prvič tudi tekmovanje za najboljši domači kruh. To priznanje je dobil Frank Rihar.
Da je bil zelo dober obisk se je pokazalo tudi v kuhinji, saj so /Vegelj J., Taylor N.. in Ferenčak D./ prodale za večerjo vse, kar so skuhale (80 večerij) in napekle kar nekaj pladnjev štrudla. Tudi pri baru so imeli /Ferenčak L., Karl Ferko in Slava Gomboša/ kar nekaj dela ves večer.
Hvala vsem za lepo udeležbo, Slovena Credi Union in Milanu Ferletiču za dobitke, župnijskemu svetu za organizacijo, ansamblu za dobro glasbo in vsem navzočim za lep obisk. Že dolgo dvorana ni bila tako polna ob praznovanju sv. Martina.
MIKLAVŽ PRIHAJA: 7.12.2014
Slovenska šola pri sv. Gregoriju v Hamiltonu vljudno vabi na Miklavževanje v nedeljo 7. decembra, 2014. Po 10:00 maši pa do kosila bo film za otroke. Ob 12:00 bo odlično kosilo v cerkveni dvorani, nato pa pride Miklavž s spremstvom. Prosimo, da za rezervacijo kosila kličete Sandy Allen in to čimprej na telefon (905) 548-0889.
St. Nicholas will soon bee visiting our parish once again. The Slovenian School invites you to our annual St. Nicholas Celebration on Sunday December 7, 2014. After the 10:00am Mass there will be a children's movie from 11:00am to 12:00pm. Healing Mass for Those Mourning the Loss of a Child
Losing a child is a painful and life-altering experience for parents, grandparents and other family members. The feeling of loss, regardless of the amount of time that has passed, is often more profound during the Christmas season. A Diocesan Healing Mass, meant to bring hope to all those trying to cope with such grief, is planned at the Cathedral Basilica of Christ the King for Sunday, December 7, 2014 at 4 pm. Any one who has lost a child of any age from any cause, including those that have lost a child prior to birth, or who have had a still birth are invited to this Mass celebrated by Bishop Daniel Miehm. God is close to those who mourn, come and experience His healing presence. Registration is preferred, but not necessary, as it will assist us in knowing how many spaces to reserve and to ensure we have enough of the small memento each family will receive. As Paul writes to some of the earliest Christians, he is concerned that they learn to live their lives in joyful expectation, rather than in anxiety about the future.
Gospel Matthew 25:14-30
Today's Gospel tells us the familiar parable of the "talents". However small the work set before us, we are each called to respond with care and creativity.

Among the many saints of the Church, relatively few are named as "Doctors of the Church". These "doctors" are held before us as teachers -men and women from whom we can reliably learn our faith. One of these is a young Carmelite nun, who died aged twenty-four, after living some nine years in the obscurity of a French Carmel: Thérèse Martin, or St Thérèse of Lisieux.
At the heart of her teaching is "the little way". Thérèse longs to be a saint, a martyr, a priest, a great missionary, but she knows she is a flawed, wounded young woman, confined to Car-
mel, who is unable to do anything so extraordinary. Yet, in prayer, she comes to realise that holiness and wisdom are not beyond her littleness; indeed, her very smallness and childishness are to become the way she comes to know God's love. As she says, "... in spite of my littleness, I can aim at being a saint. there is no need for me to grow up. In fact, just the opposite: I must stay little and become less and less." It is the great love of Jesus for Thérèse that transforms her "littleness", and makes of all her small acts of service a way of holiness in ordinary life. Thérèse's "little way" is the great way of ordinary, faithful love and care.
Gospel Teaching
A good deal of Jesus' teaching in the Gospels is about the kingdom of heaven - that great promise of a future in which the Father draws all creation into harmony. The images that Jesus uses to describe this kingdom draw on familiar, domestic life: the woman who loses a coin; the seed that grows to a great tree; the family and friends gathered to celebrate a marriage. Today we see such a picture of the kingdom - a picture of household management. To be people of the kingdom, Jesus' parable suggests, is to be a people aware that we carry great gifts that belong not to us, but to our Lord. Jesus reminds us that the good use and effectiveness of these gifts is what should take up our time and energy, even if it seems risky or foolish. We have been given gifts from our Master; it is not enough just to put God's trust in us to one side, keeping our faith safe and untroubled, and get on with other, more sensible-looking, things.
It is the constant concern for what is put into our hands that is so vividly set before us in the image of the "perfect wife" in the first reading. The woman's hard work in the ordinary fabric of daily living, far from being "just" domestic, or "mere
housework", is recognised as the virtue that it is: a kind of practical wisdom that enables life to flourish, and generous charity to find a place in our homes. It is the ordinary doing of love and faithfulness. This is the stuff of our calling - the daily round, but lived with the joy and hope of the kingdom, and a loving wakefulness as we wait on the Lord, as Paul describes in our second reading.
Application
Today we are all being called to a new kind of mission - a fresh witness to the world about the love of God in Jesus, and the joy that life in his Spirit brings. All too often we leave that work to others: what can I do, in the overwhelming littleness of my job, my family commitments, my daily concerns? I will pray, instead, for God to raise up others to great tasks. Those prayers are important; but today's readings remind us that, first and foremost, it is in the daily routines of life that the power of the kingdom can find a home in our world. By our loving attention to the simple things that are right in front of us, we become great evangelists, great witnesses to the kingdom.
So, next time we are cleaning, picking up the phone to a colleague or friend, cooking for our children, or waiting for a bus, let's call to mind our great vocation to serve God's kingdom in ordinary things. As we take on the routine tasks, let's find a simple prayer that offers them to the Father, asking that he send the Holy Spirit into this work he entrusts to us. In such small steps, the world will be consecrated more and more to Christ.

cwl - Cooking Session.
The ladies of the CWL would like to share their talents in the kitchen with parishioners.
On Saturday November 29th, at 9:00am - the CWL will be hosting a cooking session for anyone interested. As I am sure you all remember, the cabbage rolls at our 50th anniversary banquet were delicious. We invite you to come to the upper hall kitchen and learn the techniques used to making this fabulous dish. Towards the end of our cooking session, we will bake some of the cabbage rolls and enjoy our savory creation. While the cabbage rolls are baking, we will also be learning how to make "Peach Cookies"with walnut filling. The kitchen leaders will provide all ingredients for these, and the cost will be divided evening amongst those who attend this cooking session.
The remainder of the cabbage rolls will be served at our CWL Christmas Party which will be held on Wednesday December 3rd.

POKOJNI_
V	Sloveniji je 13. novembra 2014, 83. letu starosti umrla AGA GONZA-ŽELEZNIK, rojena v Gornji Bistrici (Prekmurje), živela pa v Trbovljah. Pokojna Aga je sestra našega farana Štefana Gonze. Pokopali jo bodo v ponedeljk, 17. novembra, pri nas pa bomo isti dan zvečer ob 7:00 darovali sveto mašo za pokoj njegove duše. Iskreno sožalje Štefanu in domačim, pokojni Ani pa večni mir in pokoj.
